UNFREAKINBELIEVEABLE! lol That is some serious insulation! I found your videos from an eBay auction I'm looking at for some magnet wire for a rewinding project. I will be ordering a few pounds soon.

Not quite: Kapton is a brand name for polyimide film; GP/MR-200's insulation is Polyester/Polyamideimide. A trademarked name for it is Torlon.

This wire is seriously tough! I didn't mention in the video, but that table is a welding/grinding station, so it's grounded and covered in metal grit. If it can withstand this kind of punishment, it can stand almost anything. Got an application that you think will seriously test our wire? Tell us about it, we want to hear your stories!

What is the dielectric breakdown of the "solderon" type wire?

I was going to say - that's a steel table top which could become live at any time the wire was struck with a steel hammer. Not to mention and minute steel grinding particles which could also fracture the insulation upon impact.
I'm impressed with the durability of the insulation so far.

Now to totally sell me on this brand of wire - I would like to see the same test done with 415 volts on 3 phase ( star configuration ) - and then with 2 wires having 1000 volts Dc applied.
Warning Kids - Don't try this at home !
