Θα γίνει το χωριό της καρδιάς σου... Ο πρώτος οικισμός της Έξω Μεριάς, στο νοτιοδυτικό τμήμα του νησιού θα «απαιτήσει» δεκάδες φωτογραφικά κλικ. Γαντζωμένος σαν αετοφωλιά στην απότομη πλαγιά του βουνού Πατέλες και υπό το «βλέμμα» της κορφής Μέλισσα (647μ.), έχει το προνόμιο να «απολαμβάνει» καθημερινά τη Σύρο και τη θάλασσα αντίκρυ του από υψόμετρο 240μ. Έχει την τύχη να αγκαλιάζεται από έντονη βλάστηση και να δροσίζεται από άφθονες πηγές που κατηφορίζουν από το βουνό -εξ ου και οι κρήνες που συναντάς σε κάθε σου βήμα, αλλά και ιστορία 3.000 ετών, με ευρήματα τάφων της γεωμετρικής περιόδου να επιβεβαιώνουν το γεγονός. Καμαρώνει για τα αρχιτεκτονικά στολίδια της, τις όμορφες στοές και τα πλακόστρωτα δρομάκια της, αλλά και για τους ανθρώπους του, καθολικούς και ορθόδοξους που συνυπάρχουν με αρμονία.

Στο κέντρο της Καρδιανής, θα συναντήσεις τον καθολικό ναό Γενέθλια της Θεοτόκου-Κιουρά και πιο ψηλά την ορθόδοξη Αγία Τριάδα με τη μοναδική στις Κυκλάδες εξάτοξη καμάρα. Κατεβαίνοντας τα σκαλιά προς την είσοδο του χωριού, ξεπροβάλλει η μαρμάρινη πλατεία της Κιουράς, με τα ψηλά κυπαρίσσια και το μαρμαρόγλυπτο σιντριβάνι.
