The dock isn't just storage for the dongle. The dock is a fancy usb extender, so you can plug the dock in to your device and use the 2.4ghz. This also allows for plugging the dongle itself in to your device and keep the charging dock by your couch.

I'm a big fan of the Pro 2 because I like the PS layout & retro colors. I'd love to see these Hall Sensor sticks (and maybe some more colorways) for a hypothetical "Pro 3"

I would go with the Bluetooth one, the inclusion of Hall-effect sensors is a gamechanger for me, I use my controller for Velocidrone, and the tiny deadzone I need to set can really ruin my day when I try to land.

Gotta respect ETA's consistency. He's always dropping valuable content for newly released products.

Thank you! You answered all the questions I had trying to research these controllers. Thank you for trying to 2.4 version on the Switch. That was the biggest question I wanted answered

We would be extremely appreciative if you let us know when the Bluetooth X/D input is updated on this controller! (yeah, I'm assuming it'll happen, but for that price, it should)

Hat ‘s off for ETA Prime for having one of the best channels on YT on mini pc’s and game related content, it’s just so relaxing to watch, specially at night after a hard day’s work.

Hello! Thanks for covering those. I'm a user of older wired version of this controller and its almost perfect. The only issue I have with that controller are bumpers - I like the fact that they used rubber domes instead tactile switches like in xone. The big issue with them is that they only register if you press them in the middle plus they require a substantial force to press them. As a speedrunner I can tell that this small issues makes the controller not a good recommendation for ppl who want to have fast bumper response. I'd be pleased to hear if someone tested bumpers in the new wireless version.

I prefer the 2.4g version for its Xbox button layout, but I really want those Hall Effect joysticks.
I wonder if 8BitDo would offer button replacements so that we can change the button faces.

Not a fan of them losing the swappable battery. I don't use the swapping function that often but it's been nice to switch out the pack if I forgot to charge it.

If they do release an X input over bluetooth, please do an update video showing it off and explaining the benefits.

I'm so glad I waited for ETA Prime's review before buying. Now I know that this "ultimate" controller is not so ultimate after all. The only upgrades I see over the Pro 2 (my favorite controller right now) are the Hall sticks and the left stick position (although I don't mind the PS style too much).
The charging dock and included dongle are nice bonuses, but they add nothing to the experience of actually using the controller.
With the Pro 2, you get Switch, X-input, D-input and even a Mac mode. And you can pair a different device in any of those modes, including a retro receiver or USB dongle. Plus, 3 of the modes have 3 profile slots each (Mac mode does not support profiles for some reason).
In summary, an expensive new product that falls short of the previous king.
All I want is a version of the Pro 2 with Hall sticks. That's the only thing keeping it away from perfection

So glad that 8bitdo can send all of these promo controllers to people, but my preorder will be two weeks late... just excited to be able to use an 8bitdo controller that will wake up my Switch.

LOVE 8BitDo to death. They've been my favorite controllers recently! Though, I've been spoiled by Steam Deck's joysticks. Just the fact that I can put my thumb over the right stick to activate gyro controls has been a real game changer for me. Maybe one day 8BitDo will make a Steam Deck themed controller.

The comprehensive overview I was looking for!

One thing to keep in mind: The Bluetooth version of the controller has the buttons laid out like a Nintendo Switch. The white one has Xinput because you're also supposed to use it on an Xbox, hence the layout and color coding on the buttons. I don't think the black one works on Xbox.

Looks like my dream controller. I doubt you'll see this ETA, but I'd love it if you did. Can you do a Shorts (since I doubt it's long enough for your standards for a video) comparing its size to the standard DualShock 4 for the PS4?
