what people need to realize is that this type of solution is going to give the skin a burning feeling if its being applied to irritated or red areas. glycolic acid is a natural exfoliant, so using it on red and inflamed skin is not going to help it.

I guess the 7% is enough to let the common users know that it's for the experienced skin. What i meant is that no sane person would be applying 7% of glycolic acid on the face which is way too much. Like those of us who already started using from lower concentration or any other exfoliants (which includes GA) before can tolerate it (that doesn't mean who already are used to GA can tolerate too). But I totally oppose the instructions given by The ordinary. They should at least provide every possible instructions so that beginners or even experienced people won't make mistakes. I kinda sound like i am contracting myself but beginners should start with lower concentration and jump to this one even starting it 2x a week.

Same mistake I made…I had sunburn and hyperpigmentation on my face. I started using it once a day at night and in the course of 3-4wks my face got darker( like sun tan even without sun exposure) then I started researching the reason and obviously it’s the overuse. I’m discontinuing for a week so my face can have a break before I continue 2x a week, alone side my moisturizer and vitC serum.
The directive on the product is misleading but I think the product itself it great!

I will say its absolutely Ordinary's fault, they need to have instructions that warn abt how abrasive it can be... and when to use it instead of every day. Bcs that also doesnt work for me. It depends on the person, but its an ACID, so that should be warned.

Tbh I don’t think u should use a cotton swab bc it sucks up most of the product I think u should make sure ur hands are clean then apply only a few drops on your fingertips
