You could save yourself 15 minutes and just bend your hooks out. Also have a two count before you set the hook with a hollow body.

Rubber gets soft when it is heated up. Once it cools down it’s going to be the same as it was before. This is stupid. Just get a pair of pliers and bend the hooks out a little bit.
