I actually tinkered with one of this model several years back. It belonged to an acquaintance that had moved to the mountains in Colorado. He had lamented how it just wasn't cutting well. Told him that could be corrected. I changed it to rim and drum, did a carb kit, and hung a 24" Carlton (GB) 3/8 pitch 050 bar on it and A loop of semi chisel. The owner was impressed with how his Dad's old saw melted through big logs after that.

Nice saw you will get her going, one of my 610 started making a weird noise this last weekend it's big end or little rod end slack going to tear into it soon I can't wait to have it going again ventage is best right.

I have an 051, does not have full wrap handle or that recoil mechanisms. It did not have a decompression valve, I added one when I turned 70 because it would yank the rope out of my hand. I only use it occasionally now, had to go with something a little lighter on the back.

My dad ran one of these logging when I was a kid. He threw it away when I was 19 Or 20. I was so upset, we have pic of me holding the handle of it while he was cutting a log. I still remember that day I thought I cut it my self lol. Great memories of our logging family and our short lived company.

Just picked up a 051 at my local flea market in amazing shape. Couldn't have been more than a property owners occasional use saw. Can't wait to put it through some wood

Now there's a saw that is right up my alley!! I blocked a lot of firewood with one of those when I was a young man.
You are right about the electronic ignition that Stihl started out with. After they had so much trouble with them they had to warranty the next type for the life of the saw just so people would keep buying them.
Now days I don't have any problems with the electronic ignition on any of my newer Stihl's. My newest Stihl is around 10 years old now. But I don't log by hand anymore so the ones I have will probably last me for as long as I can use them. I only cut around 30 to 40 face cords of wood for my outside boiler every year now.
My fulltime job now is running my tree harvester that cuts down the tree and delimbs and cuts the trees to length. So I don't get to log the old fashioned way anymore. LOL!!

Nice saw. I still use the 075. I hope to see that old dog run again.
Open up the muffler and remove the rev limiter for some real power if it cuts to slow for ya.
BTW I watch your videos when I get time. Just never comment.

You have to keep the filter really clean my 075 ate part of the filter and they are made of wire mesh

There’s nothing sub par about that saw if you know what your doing and most people don’t!!!! Sorry you don’t have the contact for original parts.
