You definitely understand those motors. I dropped the pan and replaced o ring on tube hoping to get normal pressure on my 6 liter. I wish I had looked a little further above the windage tray to check to see if bearings had moved when I had pan off. Might have to revisit. Thanks for video

I know duramax has its faults but im kinda glad i have one now. Already did head gaskets and studs and im still running it 5 years later. Very informative video

On my 4.8 it was that O ring, replaced it and only torqued the pickup 10 lbs instead of 15. That was 10 ish years ago never had a problem since.

I had a 2001 LQ4 with low oil pressure at idle. I never tore it down, but a credible mechanic told me to get a motor. Some issues are upper engine and can be fixed with a less costly rebuild. Lower engine issues aren't worth looking at on a motor that has so many candidates readily available. Thanks for the video.

On my "freshly rebuilt, " 6.0 4th gen the 2nd and 3rd cam bearings were trashed and my 1st and 2nd mains were spun. This was a not an active fuel management motor. I just picked up a 3rd gen active fuel management 6.0 motor which seems counter productive to the issue since I'm told by 35 year gm mechanic that they are more likely to have the failure and it happens on the 2nd cam bearing. I'm going to swap some parts and say a prayer.

Luckily for my case it was my O-ring. The idiot before me put the wrong O-ring on, my oil pressure would slowly drop while warmed up. Also I didn’t see any shavings or metallic flakes in the oil

Finally a mechanic that's willing to tell the truth!!! I have one of these pieces of junk and went through the same thing cam bearing number 2 I figured this out the hard way I tried everything as a retired GM mechanic before this piece of shit came out on the market GM should be held responsible for this JUNK!!!

Mine was the oil pickup tube seals. It's been running good for at least 10 years now. But it was the famous tick issue.

Lol it's exactly what happened to my friend truck. He paid mechanics to change all kinds of stuff and still had low oil pressure. He ended up getting a new engine and I told him it was probably a cam bearing. Usually the number 1 cam bearing fail if you have a dod engine and find change the oil

I have got over 395, 000 kilometres or 245, 000 miles out of a 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine which is all alloy although I have replaced the hydraulic lifters & timing chain 5 years ago or 35, 000 Miles (56, 000 kilometres) ago.

Note that I did check the oil pressure prior to replacing the hydraulic lifters & it was good !

I’ve had this happen though it was a lifter took the pan off and saw a bearing bear around the cam. New motor

He’s right it’s cheaper to find a decent running engine than bother with ripoff hack machine shops

THE TRUTH !⚡️🌪☄️ kinda, sorta, sometimes, could be, for me it was the O-ring. 🥳

How many miles on this thing? Oil change interval? Full synthetic oil? Premium filter? Aggressive driving? Reason for asking is I've never heard of a failure of this nature and doubt it's very common..

I got hit with that same cam bearing on 79 Chevy pickup got lucky I did it " in frame". Stock cam and bearings. Sold it

NEED HELP! Did an afm delete as well as a full engine overhaul. Closed all oil towers under valley plate. Also capped oil relief in oil pan. Put a standard oil pump as recommended. Put all back together. Runs smooth, good oil pressure on start up and while driving. But when idling warm sits at around 10-15 psi.
