Santa Train / Sleigh Ride - The Petersens (LIVE)

The "Santa Train" travels 110 miles through the Appalachian Mountains passing out toys and candy to kids on its 14 stops. The Santa Train started out as a celebration of all the success the coal mining communities were having, but as the years went on and mines closed, many people have lost their livelihoods. Now the gifts from the train are the only ones some kids get for Christmas.

"Sleigh Ride" is one of my favorite Christmas songs, but "Santa Train" was new to me. The pairing of the two was inspired, and Katie was really "cookin'" on the fiddle!
