When it comes to small, luxury-minded sport sedans, it’s all about balance. And over the years, Lexus has been all over the place with their IS 4-door. Too much luxury for some, not enough for others. Too much technology, not enough performance—and on and on. Let’s hit the track in the new IS 500 F Sport Performance and see if they’ve finally found that perfect balance.

I'm astonished how they make these modern videos look like 90s TV auto show. In a good way of course.

John Davis. My favorite car reviewer for the 80's, 90's 2000's, 2010's, 2022's

Lexus has definitely stepped up with the design. Love that IS!

My gosh, that is one of the most beautifully designed sedans I’ve ever seen. Absolutely gorgeous. The way the trunk lid is designed and integrated, the rims, the body lines. Wow. If only it had AWD I would have bought one instead of my Audi RS7 (I live in northern Indiana where we get plenty of snow).

Best looking car in its segment by far (even if the interior could have had more work done to it). As for the history of the IS, one thing is for sure, for the budget minded enthusiast who wants luxury and sporty driving with reliability and serviceability, the IS (regardless of generation) is unparalleled.

I never expected that lexus become one of last car company selling a sedan with V8 naturally aspirated engine.

The BEST looking small sports sedan in its class the best sounding too.

So beautiful especially in this lexus RED. I love those enkei factory wheels also. This is Sport performance so it’s not a full bonkers F car this is a nice daily machine that gives you performance plus being comfortable

I looked into one of these. Ridiculous dealer markups drove me to Acura. Purchased a 2022 TLX Type S instead.

Crazy how here we are 13 years later and this thing is almost equal times to the 08 IS-F. Cmon Lexus - give us the true IS-F that we deserve.

I am a Lexus fan but I wish they can step it up and truly build a car that can compete with the likes of a true AMG and M cars. They can do it if they wanted to.

*** To elaborate. When the IS-F came out it was suppose to be the beginning of Lexus's version of the "AMG/M/RS" line. There was a lot of hype where people were saying Lexus is finally going to compete with the "big boys". It never really came to fruition. It just fizzled out. There were rumors of a "600 HP GS" or "660HP LC-F" yada yada yada but to date there is nothing. I truly believe it fizzled out because they are thinking of a profitability point of view and cater to the mass market *instead* of a small niche.

I just wish Lexus would say "You know what, screw this, profit or not, lets build a collection of cars/suvs/convertibles and SHOW EVERYONE that we can hang or *even surpass* the AMGs/Ms/RSs of the world "

I hate to say this because I am a Lexus fan and owner but they will never be considered the "big boys" until they have a category like the AMGs, Ms, RSs etc. <<==JUST MY OPINION.

I really really like this car. A big V8 and smooth ride in a compact-ish body. Great combination.

Man, and I thought my 2017 Lexus IS200T look good already but this design is even better! My next car is the IS500 or RCF

This is a tough one. I love Lexus, and I LOVE that 5.0 V8, but for the HP/TQ numbers, I expected it to be a bit faster. Don't get me wrong, it's quick, but the M340i is faster, and supposedly less powerful... and costs about the same. The Lexus makes the most sense if you love that V8 and value reliability above all else, I suppose.
