for those who are wondering about whats the use of keeping tires when it became oval shaped anyways, its mainly for two reasons. one is because it shouldnt shatter the concrete beneath, and also because the coils are in a lot of tension, depending on the size of the coil. if the outermost sheet of steel shatters, a lot of energy is released which is so powerful it can easily kill people nearby.
