I don't know Julie usually I do agree with you but personally if Lioden wasn't as fast paced I probably wouldn't log on at all. I just started playing these kind of games again, Lioden is the only one who has stuck. I log on because I want to grind my goals, it's my choice.

On the other hand Wolvden feels way slower and it's boring for me. Same case with flightrising, neopets, and a lot of games in this scope. None of them ever stuck like Lioden has. I log in those games for 3 days and don't log in again for 3-6 months or even a year because I feel like there's nothing to do or work towards. (no shade on Wolvden I know it's a brand new game.) I won't think to play for days or weeks at time because there isn't more to accomplish. This is coming from someone who works at least 5 days a week if not 6.

Lowering the standard of what you can do? I don't understand. It's the players choice to lower the standard for themselves.

I wouldn't bother logging on if there was less to accomplish and I feel like that is the case with the majority of the games player base. If you can accomplish everything you want so easily then the game will burn out much faster.

I feel like Lioden has made some things easier for less frequent players. I've looked around and now special features that rewarded us are TOO EASY. One example is muties, now you can pretty much buy applicators for some of them in events. Everyone has a mutie now and it's killed whats special about them for me. I have no desire for muties anymore all the effort put in for something half the site has, it ruined the feature.

I don't understand what is being said here. Why don't people who can't match the goals they want just not expect so much of themselves? I feel like that's a personal thing.

I hear you saying lower the standards but what standards in particular? Do you mean wait times and marking releases? Those make complete sense to me and I agree. Especially with markings/colors etc. Maybe once or twice a year rather than every other if not every event.

But if you you mean standards otherwise I don't really get why they would... expectations of daily accomplishment rate is reliant on the players more than the game itself.

Lioden gives us enough to do but I've never felt pressured to do it by the game itself rather than the players or myself. What are you asking of them?

I did play Lioden for a while, and, as someone who had a lot of free time and who wanted sort of a "hands off" pet site experience (like the lioness autonomy, the breeding mechanics, the personality system), I really enjoyed it! I felt really comfortable in the cool simple customizations I could make, all the cool cubs I was getting from using studs, having the dailies to keep coming back to... And then it all sort of stagnated.

I think my limited lion space sort of kept me from ever feeling pressured for supplies, I never lost a cub or lioness, and once I was happy with all of my lions, the realization that trying to make any progress would just bring them closer to dying really stopped any joy I got from the beginning stages of the game. As someone who does a ton of Flight Rising projects, I wanted to be able to build towards a certain goal on my own terms, but realized that Lioden wasn't really built for that? I could create some sort of project, if I wanted, but it didn't really feel worth it if I'd end up neglecting the larger pride I really enjoyed and if everything would just die in the end.

There was definitely other factors that made me stop logging on (I think a more approachable and drama-free community might have gotten me more invested), but I'd honestly return in a heartbeat if Lioden introduced some sort of casual mode where, even if some or most of the risk to the game stayed, I at least wouldn't have to worry about my lions having an expiration date. The art and pets themselves of Lioden are honestly so gorgeous and engaging, and I'd love to be able to play it and recommend it to people! But the constant deadlines, crunching, and monotony that ended up taking over my gameplay just ruined the enjoyment for me.

I definitely know that's just personal preference though, I think anyone who thinks they'd enjoy the setup and pressure of Lioden (which you really wonderfully explored and explained in this video!) would be hard-pressed to find a better game! It's a fantastic game for what it is, but I find that what it is happens to be exactly what drives people away from it, especially on more self-driven and low pressure pet sites like Flight Rising, Neopets, Dragon Cave, and TFO. So I'll happily accept that Lioden is a great game, but just not one for me... Unless they do happen to make a death-free mode, in which case I'll be building the best collection of average-but-pretty lions that I can.

I really agree with what you said about lowering the ceiling of what players can achieve in a day. I don't have a lot of free time, so it's sometimes discouraging when I look at games like Lioden and realize I don't have enough time to achieve what I'd like to. When you have to budget your time, it's sometimes easy to say "Well I know it takes a long time to reach this goal, so I should play another game I can finish in that time instead."

To me it kind of starts to feel like pay to win games, except with time instead of money. Like you said, some players can spend as much as they want, and to me it feels impossible to catch up.

I was super into lioden for years when I had the time to spare for it. Now I feel way too much pressure to even try and log back in and instead switched to flightrising since I could play it in short bursts and still got the sense of accomplishment.

Lioden just in general felt like it was leaving me in the dust it was moving forward so fast. Theres a new marking that looks cool, is rare and people will pay for cubs with it? Well too bad cuz by the time I was able to get either a king with it or a steady flow of cubs there was something new and everybody moved on. I eventually had to just join very specific breeding projects just to have any goal in game but because they were very limiting to what you can do and how few people actually wanted to buy from you it just drained any fun out of it. No new, smaller personal goal seemed to fulfill me after that and I just stopped playing it.
Love the artwork and the amount of detail thats put into this game but while its fun and charming at the beginning it just ends up being a huge grind for not really any reward.

I love listening to you talk about this game because it has a really cool art style and interesting mechanics (the breeding especially is very neat), but since I'm such a casual sim player it feels kind of intimidating to me. Like, the idea of my pets being able to leave or die of old age kind of stresses me out, even if the gameplay itself is a great idea. My Dappervolk babies are essentially a nice rock collection lmao and that's very low-stress!

I saw one of your Lioden videos the other day and I was thinking of trying it. I'm glad this is now premiering. Shame it's still 2 whole days away.

Haven’t played lioden and likely won’t get into it currently given my schedule being full, but I love hearing you talk about it! it sounds like a game I would have adored when I was younger.

I started playing lioden because of your videos back in the day, and I did really enjoy it! I stopped because there was just TOO MUCH PRESSURE with each rollover. Why would I roll over if I wasn't sure I'd be able to take care of everything I want to? There's too much on the line with my lions getting older and dying every rollover! Certain aspects were great but ugh, I just didn't want my king to die. I started FR recently due to your vids, again, and I have logged on every day for months, because it's just less pressure to do a ton of things every day, to catch every cooldown event, etc.

I had a stint of playing this and I might wanna get back into it. Part of the appeal for me is that lions are my favorite animals

I really loved Lioden for like....the first few months I played. I gave up on it back in....I think July? Maybe June. It was too much pressure and I began to realize that my favorite lions were going to die and they was nothing I could do about it and I HATED that.

From my own experience, I’ve found that lioden is one of the few pet sims that’s really stuck for me. Maybe it’s because I have a lot of free time between classes to play, I focus more on the roleplay aspect rather than the breeding, or I’m just more casual about it than others. Whatever the reason, I’ve never really found the fast pace affecting me all that much. I will admit that I have gone a few months without rolling over a few times since feeding and playing with all my lionesses would be a slog, but otherwise I just don’t think this sort of issue really affects my play style all too much

You should try and maybe give the lions away ^^ idk but I think it’d be a sweet end! Ik I’d be both amazed and happy to get a lion/ess from a YouTuber haha😅 but that’s just my opinion!
