"Immersive, complete, bliss inducing, perfect listening experience." This sums up my thoughts after my first listen too.

10/10 it is the only álbum that gave my that childish thrills like when I bought new CDs when I was younger. I would add that I'm thankful to Tool for gifting us again with another beautiful piece of art.

Only review I've been waiting for. Love your insight and reaction. Thanks for listening to the whole thing, was hoping for that. Still is and always will be my favorite band of all time.

I feel like anyone who was let down, certainly was going to be let down no matter how the album sounded. Some people just can't be pleased.

This record is a masterpiece. Tool's Raison D'Etre.

I absolutely agree! I think those complaining about Maynard's vocals don't quite understand this album. This is a more mature, cerebral Tool, another evolution in their sound. Sure Maynard doesn't sound as intense or angry as his previous music, but that's because he has aged and changed as a person. This record didn't need the 30 year old Maynard, it needed the wise 55 year old Maynard. His voice is still absolutely perfect and on point on this record. Each band member have risen to legendary status here and contributed art that will transcend time. People will look back on Tool just as people look back on Mozart, Bach, or Beethoven as pure musical geniuses.

The vocals on this album are perfect. I don't think screaming would've done the lyrical content and overall message of the album justice; in a time of fear and paranoia, Maynard's performance in Fear Inoculum is controlled, sustained and unrelenting, like a bulwark against the fear.

Totally agree with your take on this whole album. I'm 12 listens into it and am still bowled over by how deep it is. Absolutely outstanding. Thanks for doing this!

Greeting from the States, Jim. I've listened to all your Tool reviews, and I love them. As a life-long Tool fan, it's great to watch new fans explore and find meaning in Tool. This is an amazing album. My only critique is that I want more. It's a tour de force. This is why Tool's music is timeless. I've been listening to Lateralus for almost 20 years and Undertow and Aenima for even longer, they stand the test of time as so many of their contemporaries have declined or gone by the wayside. This album isn't going away; we're going to hear more and more about it as Tool is opened to a new generation. There is only one ... TOOL!

It's just an incredible album from beginning to end. Admittedly I'm a new Tool fan, but this album is already one of my all time favourites.

This album is now the benchmark. It stands alone. In my 48 years I've never heard anything come as close to perfection as this.

I want to add one more thing in retrospect. Maynard and the band are getting older. The adjustment of sound, the departure of style, is very relevant to an over all theme. It is, for whatever reason, a sign of the changing times. On joe rogan, Maynard humanizes himself more so than in the past. I mean he allows for fans to know him more. He begins to become less idolic, more identifiable. This begins to make him seem more "human". These gestures have bound this theme of unity, that he wants. Fear Inoculum, the best hope for society to realize we are human, and should not be tribal, but united against fears. We are all one, and the meaning that we, as humans define, should be one of gratitude and unity. Society may not be around in 3 years or 300 years. We are apes with technology to destroy the planet, we must be as one, but we are drifting so far away from that.

A new Tool admirer here and this album is one of those that come along every few decades. An instant absolute classic. This is what great musicians come up with who obviously only want perfection. This is a Dark Side, Close to the Edge, In Rock, I mean as good as it gets. The sounds and production are epic and they have set the ball so high with every second that it may not be reached again. Everyone involved in making this album should pat themselves on the back. A rare thing indeed, 13 years in the making and it shows. Tool ....well done you should be hugely proud of producing this album. A new convert from being a life long Yes and King Crimson fan.

Jim we all feel like you. We all wanted this, something we can lose ourselves and find ourselves in over and over again for years upon years. Thanks should go to Tool for taking the time out of their own lives to make such an astonishing record for us all. I'll be seeing them in October. I bought the limited edition CD, mp3 album, and the Inoculum single as my little thank you to the band for what they've done.

The only place I can discuss about this album is YouTube, , I'm from a remote village in India and no one within a large area don't have any idea what tool is. I'm so glad I discover tool few years ago and able to witness this greatness with everyone else... Tool never let us down, , their music will always be work of art which transcends the cultural and language barrier..

We don’t need an angry mallard 😂
Love ya Jim
Your grudge reaction got me hooked to your reactions 👍

Your lack of words and expression says it all. Anyone who has listened to it will understand exactly what you’re feeling. Great reaction. Happy that you listened to it in it’s entirety. I do feel Maynard was a bit reserved this time around. However I can’t deny how good his voice is. And the musicianship here as a whole is unparalleled. What an experience! Hoping to catch these guys one more time in concert. Best band in the world.
