Man, Stanley Clarke was such a _thing_ in the 70's. Whenever you wanted to impress your friends with your musical sophistication you'd take a Stanley Clarke album out of it's sleeve and lay that needle down..

Stanley doing what Stanley does so well, with Jan Hammer on the keys, Bill Connors on guitar and the awesome Tony Williams on drums... you really need to look into Return to Forever; Stanley Clark bass, Al Di Meola guitar, Chick Corea keys and Lenny White drums.

Sooo many bass players have NO CLUE how much they owe to Stanley Clarke. All that funky slap-bass s**t? Stanley. If they didn't learn it from him they learned it from someone who learned it from him.

I can't believe it! Never knew you would go into Return to Forever or Stanley Clarke!! Listen to Earth Juice by Return to Forever, and Concerto for Jazz/Rock Orchestra by Stanley Clarke.

I suggest bassist Victor Wooten solo and with the trio Bela Fleck & The Flecktones.

Ah, this reminded me of my love for Stanley's 'Rocks, Pebbles and Sand' LP, among others. And of course School Days!

Stanley Clarke... Just nasty...
Was waiting for your reaction to him.
The Miles Davis of bass players, right up there with Jaco.
I may be wrong, but I think he played with the Return To Forever band.

You need to check out the history of drummer Tony Williams. An all time great. Jan Hammer is also an incredible keyboardist. He was with the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

I could tell you were enjoying yourself. All of the early Stanley Clarke solo albums are fire. Tony Williams on drums. His group Tony Williams Lifetime were jazz fusion pioneers. There’s another rabbit hole you could go down.

I remember the first time I heard this on WWDB 96.5 in Philly in '74. It was a real JAZZ radio Station, not a soft jazz station that played straight up jazz and Fusion Jazz. I was blown away. Saw Stanley Twice in concert. Just amazing.

Hey Chod check out his song Rock n Roll Jelly featuring Jeff Beck and another called Hello Jeff. Hot Fun is another great song. You should also check out Billy Cobham seeins’ how you’re diggin’ Jazz Fusion. He’s an excellent drummer and my fav. Jazz fusion artist. Check out these songs. Stratus, Snoopy’s search, Red Baron, Crosswinds, the Pleasant Pheasant, Quadrant. Just to get you started. You will love this stuff guaranteed!!!

He's the best. Have you heard his most excellent collaboration with Chick Corea, Lenny White and Al DiMeola? Give "Romantic Warrior" album by "Return to Forever", and you will be rewarded four times over...because all four bring historic performances to the table. Jan Hammer and Tony Williams do some great work here. First rate. Thanks.
