"Give a little bit", "Take the long way home", "Bloody well right", "Dreamer", "Logical song", "Breakfast in America". So many great songs.

Fun fact: If you are driving on the open road playing this song, the guitar solo at the end will make your car speed up by 20 to 30 miles per hour.

Amber is a star...her appreciation of nuances and key changes is perfect

Amber is so right about the writing in Supertramp and the other bands she mentions. 70's prog and even prog-pop was cinematic and ambitious in terms of structure, story telling and range of texture and dynamics, to the benefit of the open-minded listener. It's so nice to see people still appreciate that.

The drummer for this band was my high school baseball coach, Bob Siebenberg, and he talked about their tours and the stuff they got to experience. Pretty wild 😂

Roger Hodgson's guitar solo (outro) on Goodbye Stranger is surely up there with the best of all time. Pure musical genius.

One of the most under rated guitar solos ever. Perfectly thought out and played.

I don't consider an album collection complete without 'Breakfast In America'... It is one of those pivotal pop records that defined an era. I also feel the same about ELO's 'Out Of The Blue'

Supertramp and ELO are 2 of the most under appreciated bands of all time.

Supertramp's greatest attribute is without doubt their exceptional talent in 'musical arrangement'. The entry and disappearance of different instruments throughout their pieces to instigate a particular dramatic effect is nothing short of genius. They are individually quite talented with their own instruments of choice, but it is the total conception of what they want to present which is magical and extremely entertaining for the listener. God bless you Supertramp..

"Symphonic" is the word that comes to my mind when thinking of Supertramp. Their writing and composition are very intelligent.

Breakfast in America was the very first album I ever purchased on my musical journey, way back in 1979 as a 16 year old, and it remains a feast of incredible music and still remains in my album collection over 40 years later

Composition, arrangement, odd time signatures, precision playing and production. This band has it all.

Back in 1977, when I was a senior in high school, I was stood up by a girl (for a high school dance) and walked along the Lake Michigan shoreline dressed in a brand new suit, weeping my eyes out. Tired of feeling sorry for myself, i remembered that someone I knew lived nearby and had friends over for a small party. I decided to go there, despite my puffy eyes. For some reason the memory of stepping into that friend's house always stuck in my mind: She had Supertramp playing on her stereo, and the song was "Give a Little Bit." The combination of the music and being with good friends actually wiped the memory of being stood up out of my mind, and I managed to have a great time. 😀

I just LOVE the way that Supertramp uses crescendo in their songs. They start out soft and slow and in this case, they snowball into one of my all-time favorite guitar solos at the end. If you can find a good recording of "Even in the Quietest Moments" (thanks, Roger...geez, Dude, let us here your genius), it is one of my favorite songs by anybody.

That's one of the BEST finales of a rock n roll song EVER. So glad you loved it!

There are five band members in Supertramp. I'm so happy you love them, Amber. They have been my favourite group for almost 50 years, with ELO close behind. Goodbye Stranger was a massive hit for them and is from the Breakfast in America album. As great as the entire LP is, in my opinion it may be only their third or fourth-best album — that's how amazing their albums were in the 1970s. As much as they are loved and admired by many they are still vastly underrated in the history of rock/pop music. It is a total travesty that they are still not in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. They have their own sound. The musicianship is top rate and the lyrics from Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson range from happy to very bleak and dark. They have a lot of social commentary in their words especially from their all-time classic album Crime of the Century, my favourite LP ever. They use saxophone, electric piano, clarinet and harmonica in such beautiful ways. Please react to a lot more Supertramp, and not just from Breakfast in America, their most successful album commercially. Every song on Crime of the Century, Crisis? What Crisis?, Even in the Quietest Moments and Famous Last Words is either great or worth listening to at the very least.

Supertramp came on the scene with a new sound all their own. It was a breath of fresh air.

Nothing to this day sounds like this record, it was that well written, performed and produced. A first class band.
