I’m an interior designer and avid bath taker in California. I’m pivoting my work towards specializing in bath design and construction. This was so fun to learn how the Japanese view bathing as an art form and a true self care activity! ❤❤❤

The fact that I can push a button, have the tub start to fill by itself, maintain a specific temperature and then stop and let me know when it was full by playing a melody is just on another level. The trickiest thing for me was how to use the futuristic control panel. I invariably set off the child alarm.

Thank you for explaining Japanese bath culture so freely! It's really interesting to see the difference between the western "necessity" of washing yourself and the Japanese "ritual" of relaxation!

I'd also be very interested in proper behavior and etiquette in a Sentou or Onsen.

So interesting. I in the UK am getting rid of my European style bath and installing a deep Japanese soaking tub, in a wet room with a separate shower. I dithered for years over bath or shower. I love showers in the morning but at night need a relaxing soak, especially since my body aches with arthritis.

Loved this video and that toilet is genius I’m designing my own tiny home and that will definitely be something I need to find for it.

This was great and I love that you go deeper than just "this is a japanese bath tub" and show us the tools and culture. I would love separate videos for sento and one for onsen to show the differences and/or benefits of the three bathing rituals. Especially, onsen... since it's always covered for tourists on how wonderful and relaxing it is, but, never relating the cultural significance or importance etc.
Anyway, great job and it was nice to see you (pun intended)!

I didn't want the video to end. When I get a house one day, I want the entire Japanese bath style set up. I heard they also use the bath water for laundry. God recycling of water.

We need to make bathroom like this in USA. My bathroom has a wall separating the toilet from the tub., but most don't.

I really, REALLY want a Japanese bath. It seems to me that it's got to be the best possible, nicest and most civilized way to get clean and restored. I'm trying come up with a way to reconfigure what I've got going right now--standard US bathroom.

We loved using ofuro and going to the onsen when we traveled to Japan. And the washlet toilets were amazing!

That’s such a genius idea with the toilet!!! We need to utilize that in Las Vegas where we have such a bad drought!

What really is relaxing in the bathwater is to use Magnesium Sulphate...a muscle relaxant... very nice... You can get Magnesium Sulphate (also sold as epsom salt) online...I would get a bag of 15 kg...which is way cheaper then the small packs...

This is great. I fell in love with the Japanese style of bathing when I spent a summer abroad. It’s amazing the concept hasn’t become more prevalent in other countries. Thanks for sharing.

This video was so great! I wish I watched something like this before I went to Japan years ago. Our airbnb in Tokyo had this set up and I wasn't sure how to bathe in there. Now that I'm building my own home in North America I'm planning to include a Japanese style washroom. Such a smart use of space.

That was very interesting! I love Japanese baths 🛀 cuz it’s so relaxing, especially the Onsen!! Yes, you are right, the Americans have no idea about the psychological relaxation of the ofuro. I was closely watching to see if there was going to be a “wardrobe malfunction”!!! 😂🤣👀 I’d like to see the public baths too. I didn’t know if it still existed. I’ve been to one but I was still a child. And do an onsen video! That would be the bomb! Good Job Mike! I enjoy watching your YouTube videos! I’m a fan! 🙌🏼
