Bass fishing turns on as a storm approaches and the barometer drops! Fishing the beach ahead of bad weather often produces good catches like this.

John, one thing I love about your videos is that you show us that you don't have to buy the most expensive gear to catch consistent fish.

John, once you get the spook bug it’s hard to stop. Next try the slow sinking spooks (i.e. rapala Subwalk 15). Just like topwater spooks will spark a hit when the pencil doesn’t, the sinking spook will draw fish when the darter isn’t exciting them. Fish them in current or anywhere you’d fish a darter. (They’re sub surface so it’s not topwater and can be fished at night). Especially deadly along shadow lines on the LI Bridges at night.

Very nice conditions, thanks for sharing. The reel looks like a real winner, maybe someday after I win the lottery I will consider it.

Great content as always John👏, just picked up a salt x 6k myself and it’s nice to hear good reviews on it especially from yourself, can’t wait to start using it👌

I crush my trebles, too. Sometimes even the singles, depending on the barb size. I find that the bass are far easier to keep on that bluefish. The blues just fight so violently that they throw the hook, barb or no barb.

John, Your Pencil Popping. What happened to Holding the line between your thumb and forefinger to prevent loops of fishing line from developing on the spool?

Love the Zara Spook... I catch a lot of smallmouth with them... I usually go with a Spook Junior if the water is somewhat calm... I have yet to catch a striper on topwater (caught my first one in Glouster, Ma on a jerkbait), but I know it's just a matter of time before I do

Hi John. I have been following you for about a decade, can you please do a video on how to get suited for waders and what types of waders are best for each of the conditions or areas for fishing. wet vs bootfoot . Thanks and God Bless

I noticed in the video that your legs are crossed I do this as well do you think that it aids in pencil popping?

John, consider trying the larger Doc lure. It weighs about the same as the Jigging World spook and the action is better then the smaller Doc. The smaller Doc does not seem to have the same walk the dog action as it's larger brother which catches lots of fish. Keep up the good work!

Try a 2oz loaded Heddon Super spook. Casts a mile and still has action.

The links to J&H aren’t working for me. Could you please name the gear in the description as well. Especially rod and reel. Thanks.

Quick question(kinda haha). Im looking to buy the tsunami trophy 11ft heavy rod rated for 2-6oz lures and 20-40lb braid i think it was and to use the tsunami shield 6000 with 40lb braid to a 60-60lb leader and 75 lb ta clip. Im looking to use this rod and reel size for throwing lures like the doc 9 inch model thats rated for i believe 3.5oz. Ive changed the hooks to vmc inlines and wanted to know, do you John think that rod length and lure rating would be good enough to be able to use for fishing the doc size as listed before in your personal experience? I have the 10ft mh in this rod 1-5 oz and the shield in the 5000 with 30lb braid with 50lb leader and 75lb ta clip and just dont want to risk breaking the tip on that rod. So thats why i asked what i did.
