He meant that use tools and machines to manage agriculture and divert the labor force to other sectors. Thats what happening in other developed nations. We cannot abandon the agricultural sector instead modernize it. You cannot increase the price of food products like software prices to improve the quality of life of the farmer. It will create a much bigger problem called inflation.

15% GDP of Agriculture has prevented starvation in this Country which feeds 1.4 Billion people ! Food is Life itself and we shame life by giving silly numbers to Agriculture! And if Farmers price their commodity like Corporates do, we cannot afford Food ! For eg, One Kilo Rice requires 2000 Liters of Water .Even 10 paise to 1 litre water makes 1 Kilo 200 Bucks ! Our Life in India is subsidised not by the Govt but by our Farmers ! Jai Kissan !

Sir food prices were always kept low in all the countries deliberately to avoid starvation. It has very little to do with GDP

Totally agree with you . Even though the Europeans colonised the United States, they have already degraded the soil to alarming proportions . In the name of higher yield the soil is dumped with unwarranted amounts of chemicals, poisoning it beyond repair . Ground water quality gets seriously compromised. On the other hand India which had much more cultivable land than even China has been using sustainable methods .We cater to Need, the west to Greed . Sustainability is more important than fancy numbers belted out by Economists !

Now, I want to know how much government job holders contributes to GDP.

This is due to government inefficiency and favoritism towards corporates and hate towards farmers. GDP only benefits few but rising income for everyone helps country.

42% work day and night to produce enough food to feed 1.4 billion people. Their contribution of agriculture is bigger then 15% of GDP. If every country and every person wants to go into IT and be more productive, you will be left with a lot of paper money and then you would have to eat the paper money....

If the software industry had Indian(domestic) customers then software income could also be more or less the same as agriculture

GDP is meaningless unless it translates to satisfaction. High GDP is no guarantee for satisfaction.

Why is the discussion always around GDP and not increasing incomes of people? GDP only benefits few and income benefits all.

How can anyone make a comparison agriculture with anything else...

Inferences come out of from Agricultural GDP is that it needs to be diversified in cultural and economic connotations ...
I.s horticulture - orchids, medicals plants, utilisation of by products after harvests etc ..
There is a huge scope in enhancements of agricultural GDP ...
I believe we we require multidimensional approaches in agricultural products to enhance GDP ...
MSP & subsidies kind of stuffs need to de- romanticise..
Obviously with executions.,
All are fascinated with these two terms ...

Typical bull....it analysis.
How about value addition in agri.? Nutrition is health and agri is part of it.
These weirdos crunch numbers for the sake of it.

Income needs to be compared with Purchasing Power Parity. India's income buys 4x more goods & services with the same dollar than it would in America.

Software is not an oasis of "high productivity". Economists and scholars love this don't they? It is just that in this time in our world IT is valued more than agricultural produce - that has nothing to do with productivity.
