A Space to Think: A Sound Portrait of Brian Eno (KUSC, 1988)

Показать описание
"'A Space to Think' is a one-hour sound portrait of one of the most provocative artists on the contemporary music scene today: composer, film music pioneer, video sculptor, and record producer Brian Eno. For twenty years, Eno has been at the vanguard of the art world, steadily breaking down the barriers between classical music and rock, between video and fine art. "Our challenge with this program was to try and represent not only Eno's greatly varied achievements, but also to trace his extraordinary influence on both musicians and artists, all within the format of a fifty-nine minute radio show. "The program explores Brian Eno's development from his early years as a member of the rock group Roxy Music, through his 'ambient' experiments with Music for Airports and On Land, to his pioneering work as a record producer and video artist. "Eno is a particularly interesting subject because he consistently refuses to rest on his laurels, and instead continues to explore new forms of expression. In this he has been an inspiration to many other artists. As Brian Eno has said, 'the point of pushing things to the edge of one's understanding is not for the sake of being original, but to retain one's innocence, to recapture the thrill of discovery. And the thrill of finding yourself able to cope in a place that you didn't even know existed before.'" -- 1988 Peabody Awards entry form.
