He was so nice in person 2020- He saw my 10 year old son mouthing the words just ahead of him and realized he knew all the songs He stopped the concert to recognize him for doing that, then spoke with him after the concert The whole group was nice to him

They performed in Houston at Astroworld in late May 1971. We were there for our senior trip. Use to have their greatest hits on 8 track.

I saw the Grass Roots on the Santa Cruz boardwalk around 1992.
Along with Jan and Dean.
They weren't a super group but had some memorable, catchy, tunes.
Sooner or later love is definitely gonna get ya.

If you pause at 0:48, there's the first photo in the video of future "The Office" actor Creed Bratton (lower right). My wife and I didn't see The Grass Roots in concert until Saturday August 30, 1986, when they were part of The Monkees 20th Anniversary Tour. The concert lineup also included Gary Puckett & the Union Gap and Herman's Hermits (minus Peter Noone). They played outdoors in Portland's Civic Stadium after The Beavers Triple-A baseball game ended. A concert ticket got you into the baseball game as well.

Only Grassroots hit song that wasn't sung by Rob Grill "Where Were You When I Needed You".

Wait! It was the great Carol Kaye who played that bass line. Such a great bass line.

There was an earlier band, using the name The Grass Roots, led by Arthur Lee and Bryan MacLean, well-known on the LA scene. Fans started coming up to Arthur and Bryan, saying, "Love your new record!". Arthur said, "What record? We don't have a record contract".
Turns out Arthur hadn't trademarked the name Grass Roots. So Arthur and Bryan changed the name of their band to LOVE. Maybe you have heard of them. This also explains why Arthur's music publisher was called Grass Roots Music. Now there's someone you should do a report on.

Great vocals on these Grass Roots songs that don’t royalty as well as should! Loved the product, and the talented players moved on!

I was a fan during their heyday in the late 60s and early 70s. They should have called it quits in 1975. By then they seemed dated and as the saying goes "overstayed their welcome." Today as you know none of the original members are with the group so they might as well call themselves The Grass Roots Tribute Band. I think that's funny that VH1 scrapped their episode because they weren't compelling. Such is life.
