►About the 12 études op.45:
The composer explored countries and cities that moved, intrigued, charmed, and impressed him through the many journeys he undertook as a musician. These inspiring places are at the heart of these piano études. Some pieces capture the relentless frenzy of these locations, but above all, they reveal a sense of poetry.
An étude is traditionally defined by the technical challenges it imposes on the pianist. The composer sought to honor and perpetuate this characteristic while placing musical ideas and expression at the forefront.
Although these études may seem classical and imbued with multiple influences, they possess an innovative and deeply personal dimension. Each note has been carefully thought out, none left to chance, and the difficulties, though real, are all surmountable thanks to the possibilities offered by today's instruments.
Fascinated by pianists since childhood, this collection forges a connection with the great classical piano masters while incorporating a variety of contemporary influences.
Commissioned by communauté d'agglomération de Versailles Grand Parc, by the "association des Amis d'Alain Marinaro".
Commission supported by the Fondation Banque Populaire, Sacem, and Proarti.
