Morning! Oops I did it... What's your everyday camera?!

youtubers buy gear like non-rich people buy groceries. 4 videos later and this camera disappeared forever lol

I went to Japan for 2 weeks last month and carrying RX1R II. Definitely love the results and user experience (being small compact full frame camera with 35mm f2 lens). One thing I hate is just the battery life. Make sure you care at least 2 spare batteries (fully charged) in your pocket

I have one. It's the ultimate travel camera for me personally. The rendering of the zeiss sonnar lens is just phenomenal. People say "just get an a7c" but honestly there is no a7c/a7c2 35mm combo that rivals the quality you get in this camera, and certainly not at this tiny size. Sure the tech is aging a little bit, but it also has some killer features like a quiet leaf shutter, LPF settings, etc. And with the high MP sensor you can crop super far if you need to recompose in post. It's super versatile and even has a pseudo-macro mode. It's a great EDC for any situation. It just never found its audience due to the insanely high price. If you can get it for half the cost of retail I would recommend.

I have the RX1R and refer it over the Leica Q2. There is something wonderful about the images from the lens and sensor combination. Great micro contrast, sharp and the 35mm focal length is spot on. Even the 2x digital crop is usable. This is my only second hand camera but it is my favourite

I just got back from Japan. The amount of used camera stores there are INSANE. Osaka, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Kyoto, Yokohama. They're everywhere

I bought a used Rx1r on eBay years ago with all the necessary accessories + 3 batteries. It eats batteries. It’s a great street camera, a pocket battleship. The lens alone is worth the price. Worth mentioning is its macro mode. So If you’re in for a fixed lens, don’t mind using your legs, then it may well change your photography. One of the reasons I went for this camera was the results I saw other photographers got with it. The output has a particular 3d quality (depth and clarity) to the images, a stellar lens mated to a full frame sensor.

I have the rx1r and it’s with me every day everywhere. I use it as a side camera to capture something with 35mm quickly. My only concern is that artificial shutter sound. Luckily easy to turn off.
Still waiting for the next version of it but I don’t have hopes anymore.. and it’s difficult to choose more megapixels and tilt screen over the cutest speed light for me 😅
In addition to batteries a good quality soft shutter release would be perfect.
Enjoy your new camera 🙌

Hey Pierre, great video! I actually bought the original RX1 and imported it from Japan to Canada after I saw your review from a few months back. In total it was around $800 CAD which to me was an absolutely amazing price-can’t wait to capture more moments this year. Hoping you do even more videos with this camera!

really appreciate that you include raw images as well as your edits! I watch a lot of photography videos and a big pet peeve of mine is not showing that edits have been made to photos. feel like it gives beginners unrealistic expectations of what their photos will look like. so thank you! love the video

Im also in love with my RX1RII. It is my everyday camera since 5 Years. Ok, I have also the A9 and a couple of Lens es, but the RX1RII is so powerful and tyni...

Still hold the RX1 and love it for its exceptional picture quality. Yes, it is somewhat quirky to use but once you have developed a workflow, it will grow on you. It's only real competitor in my bag is the Leica Q as I slightly prefer the 28 mm focal length and its hard-to-beat handling. But I cannot bring myself to sell either. Have fun using the RXII.

Your, passion, vision and love for the art is so enjoyable to see! I don't get out much during the winter here in Chicago because I have a disability and I'm a full-time wheelchair user. I hope to bump into you one day just to say hi. I've learned so much from you for my passion of taking photos!

I have one. It's my favorite camera. It was my grail for years, and about a year ago I finally decided to buy one, and since then I have shot with it almost every single day. There is just something irresistible about this camera. The form factor, the lens, the sensor, it's just a sublime combination. I use an A74 for work and an RX1007 for my most discreet street work, but my RX1R2 is without a doubt the camera I enjoy the most. When I'm traveling, with friends, or just on a walk to clear my head, my RX1R is the camera I reach for every time.
I think it comes down to sheer sexiness. More than any other camera I've ever owned, I just can't resist my RX1R. I want to hold it, I want to push its buttons, I want to pop up the hidden viewfinder and hold it up to my eye. It has a certain irresistible grace. This is why I insist that this camera is the closest Sony has ever come to replicating the "feel" of a Leica. It just has that perfect combination of factors that, imperfections and all, make you CRAVE it. It's not a perfect camera, but it's a damn near perfect object. It's a work of art, which is such a departure from the staid pragmatism Sony usually goes for.
It's great to see the RX1R getting love again. Who knows, if we hype it up enough, maybe they'll make a mark 3???

Managed to snag a used A7III for 1000€ in south Korea, came with the 24-70 kit lens, had a shutter count of 1200, really hyped to start snapping more photos.
Truly Asia is something else when it comes to the used market

I am with you on wanting that Sony RX camera more than a Leica Q or Fujix100v. Great you found a mint version. For my wants, 35mm is my preferred focal length if working with just one focal length. Let’s hope Sony comes around to making a new version. I held one of these many years back and was wowed by its compactness. Good luck sorting out the Nippon-only menu.

13:28 Loved this shot

I really hope Sony will make a mark III with A7RV's AI AF and sensor and a smaller 35mm. That will rule the compact market

Your comment 'my mum, my daughter, my wife, the three most important women in my life', that made me smile, I like it!
Really enjoy your passion of trying out new cameras. I would love to travel to Tokyo one day. Really nice Japan street photography! Enjoy!
