I remember when they had a POW WOW in Franshot park in Olean N.Y... A pow wow is not only about the Dance... Many call it a war dance but it's truly not like that. It's about getting to know one another. What we stand for as a Native people, clean water, clean air & self sustainability.

I am Mi'kmaq, and don't know my fathers side. I would like to learn more about my ancestry. I am from Mtl and my family from Nova Scotia. Thank you for this community and for the unity and love it shows. May it keep growing.

I learned I was Mi’kMaq in recent years, as well as have answered my calling as a shaman prior to. Things made sense. I continued following my journey. It has lead me back to the same answer every time the question has been asked. The answer is simple “find your tribe”. I have been looking to visit with people that share my ancestry to see through their eyes as well as my own. How do I get in touch with people will and able to help me learn?

Hello my name and James. I've recently traced my descendancy and found out the Matriarch of my family was a Mi'kmaq Indian woman. Back on 1600s Halifax. Her name was Catherine Lejuene. Have any of you heard of this name? I very interested in my Metis/Mi'kmaq roots. BTW I'm from Louisiana the Acadian side of my ancestry. Thnx

There was this Band Called Alibi, we drew numbers. But Sadly we lost the lead Guitarist. I'm just trying to tell you what was going through my head! I'm not trying to mention names. Yeah, we used to joke around like that. He looked like Wolfman Jack...

I'm a Mi'kMaw halfling frrom St.Johns from the 60's. We are many, you know this. You are drawn here, and yet not. We were given to orphanages, and "picked" out.

Where, are my Mik'Maw parents?

Look @ my yearbook, this is the way Micmac Indians have always been treated. I was impoverished, I had to wear my sister's worn-out disco pants. Imagine @ a young age how that felt ???

I’m a descendant of Jean Roy and his half Mi’kmaq wife, Marie Dubois.

The Senecas tell me a a Ladies feet never Leave the floor. But as a Micmac when a male dances his feet will often leave the floor. That's considered a distraction ??? So if I put one down in front of you I mean no disrespects !!! 🤔

No one can own lobsters before they are caught. The Mi'kmaq have protected these animals' futures forever. They are the overfishers.

The dress and dance sure resembles the tribal cultures from the Great Plains. I guess pan-Indianism is the new traditionalism for many First Nations who have lost so much.

I'm guilty like that, I dance to keep the peace. As I have aged I have a shaky leg syndrome...

In the yearbook, you can clearly see I was dressed in certain kinda duds. That looked like they came from an evangeled era...
