3 Actor Headshot Tips: Fix These Acting Headshot Mistakes Today!

Here are 3 actor headshot tips that are often overlooked. The have nothing to do with the actual photo and can be fixed right now without getting new headshots taken. Another really important thing when choosing your headshot:
It's more important to choose one that actually looks like you do when you walk into a casting office - not one you think makes you look gorgeous. It may be a little less flattering, but nothing disappoints a casting director at first meeting more than an actor showing up to read who looks nothing like their headshot.

One thing I've noticed is that 9 out 10 auditions don't even take headshots anymore. They snap a digital pic right before they start the actual audition.

If you do keep headshots in your car, make sure they are in a folder in the trunk. Few things are more embarrassing than chauffeuring your parents, or anyone else, around only to look in the review mirror and see them reading your acting resume.

Regarding file names, be sure to read the submission info. many CAs want the file name in a particular format. When you say to be sure your photo is printed on the correct size paper. Every instruction I've been given is to print your resume on 8 1/2 x 11 paper with the margins set to 8 x 10. The cut the resume to fit the headshot.

Love the clear truth Kurt. Also, you can buy a ream of paper at places like FedEx/Kinkos and ask them to cut it to 8x10. Allows me to print current resume and not have to trim the paper.

Would it be beneficial to have different hair styles in your headshots? Like a buzzcut + a combover look, a messy hair look? Or should all headshots be more consistent as far as head/facial hair?
