John Asselta has owned his Euro-spec 1978 Ferrari 308 for over 20 years. In that time he has steadily improved its performance and usability. In the process he's modified the original 2.9-liter V8 with individual throttle bodies and electronic fuel injection. The motor also benefits from a custom, dual snorkel air intake and custom fabricated exhaust system.

Beautiful beautiful car, one of the best-looking Ferrari's that has ever been made.

I know most Ferraris are red but man the 308 and 328s look so good in black and gray.

When you were turning it around it reminded me of my old 348. No power steering, but wouldn’t want it any other way.

Man, does that thing ever sound beautiful!

I think building rocket ships might be less complicated. Dont care what the new models look like. 308 is the most iconic sexiest complete visceral experience( sight, sound and feel) of all time. Period! A Ferrari without a gated shifter should be a crime.

The TBI system modernizes the Ferrari motor and that is a very good thing. Purist will bitch and moan but that old Weber crap was no fun to start with anyway. It's almost as if the 308 has a new lease on life. That is one smart owner.

Have owned 2 308 cars. First a glass GTB. Did not find the steering heavy at speed. Looks fantastic in black.

I like the deletion of the GTS rear quarter window louvres, to make the car look like the prettier GTB, but given how deeply the glass panels are recessed in the GTS design, I wonder if they can removed and fitted flush to the outer surface, or, if that's not possible, if bespoke (lexan?) pieces can be manufactured instead. Not sure about the LED DRLs in the front chin spoiler, and I was always a fan of the shallower chin spoiler too. The new console switches are impressive and the car sounds like it's in rude health, so this is definitely the way to save Bosch K-Jetronic cars from their misery! I'd be looking to add a protective 'bulkhead' behind the electronics, to make the rear luggage compartment usable again, but I guess that would involve finding a way to ventilate the volume between the two bulkheads, to cool the electronics. But all these are details. Black is definitely the best colour for the GTS and this is probably the best GTS! Loving the 16" QV wheels too.

There's a YouTuber who's currently putting a Honda engine in one of those!

The original Weber cars actually only made around 230 hp against the claimed 255 so this is a worthwhile boost. But I'm especially impressed by the torque. Back in the day mine made 210 lbft so even 260 is a real big increase. Sounds pretty good too!

One thing I'd do is slip on my sleek white pastel suit, throw on my classic Ray-Ban shades, and cruise down South Beach in Dade County, Florida with Phil Collins' 'In the Air Tonight' blasting in my black 308.

Your Ferrari is awesome for sure! I’d love to pick one up! I was wondering if you can tell me how much the carbs and TBI would run to do the conversation more or less? Thanks!

So he tuned IBT's via Speed Density? Where is the MAP picked up?

Have you been able to compare it to a GTSi or a Quattrovalvole?
