Welcome to OutTheSaddle

Footage of the descent of kirkstone pass towards ullswater in the lake district, cumbria. The highest road in the lakes. The road is wide with relatively good tarmac compared with other gravelly, narrow descents that the lake district has to offer.

I thought you was off when the wet patch came, good job you didn't hit the brakes, you braved it out, I remember climbing this in 1981 on a claud butler majestic, with 2 panniers and a saddle bag, along with wrynose and hardknott, ending the day in Keswick after honister, great video, I just hope people don't try a copy it, as its quite dangerous.

That was scary! In the early stages it was damp and I thought you were pushing it, but when the puddles came and the camera got wet OMG. It's good to watch while spinning safely on my home spin bike. Thanks for sharing.

dangerous descent. Only attempt at this speed and in these conditions if you are very very confident and skilled. Friend came off at the bottom (where the water is on this video) which led to an 8 day drug induced coma and acquired brain damage. Hitting the brakes isn't chickening out - sometimes its the right decision considering what could happen otherwise. At the end of the day, all you're sacrificing is the thrill of speed, instead of the only brain and body you'll ever get

Wish I had the bottle for that kind of speed. That looked amazing !!!

You lit that up for sure. I cringed when you went through the water. Try heartside .. that's my favourite.. great film..😀

I’m not a cyclist but that’s impressive speed !
My concern is whether the brakes can deal with those speeds ?

I've climbed that side twice. The top 3rd is brutal. The hardest climb i've done tbh. The decent down the other side into Windermere is magical. Never climbed from Windermere though.

It was only towards the end that I noticed you didn’t have your hands on the brakes!
And my arse fell out when I saw the water across the road!

Na.... that's not fast go and try the biggest and fastest hill in Yorkshire; Fleet Moss down to Hawes, I've hit 63mph down there scared myself silly when a cross wind nearly took me into the Its a must try for any cyclist, riding up it is a killer but its an awesome
