Joe Heffernan had owned a hardware store and was a good businessman. Sadly, his son has no business sense, which is why Carrie pays the bills in the household. Doug was initially told about the water problem by the home inspector before they bought the house. Now, it's a mold problem. Insurance will not cover the repair costs, plus they are unable to get a bank loan, so they are asking Doug's parents for help.

The best part of this episode is at the end when they are at the diner. She talks about being a broken old hobo like that man at the counter. And it ends up being Arthur! Lol he ends up buying them breakfast with the $20 he got paid for being a gigolo.
