Old travel agent here... There used to be senior discounts. We would add \cd10 to the fare base and discount the senior and a companion. They disappeared in the early 2000s.

After she retired, a coworker invited me to visit her in Puerto Rico. I was amazed at the considerations given to seniors. In banks, utility companies, post offices, seniors were taken to special cashiers, or clerks so that they wouldn't have to stand in line. This should be implemented in other US cities, etc..

I am a wheelchair passenger, 82, 2 knee replacements, and a hip. Neuropathy in both legs and bouts of dizziness. Nothing has ever been offered. In fact personnel on airline saw me struggle just to get myself up after 5 hours sitting in between 2 people in very narrow and uncomfortable seat. This was a man steward, he was leaning on the wall with his arms crossed and watched me struggle and never moved an inch to help me….I was in tears by the time I made it up …people have no compassion for handicapped.

I was a flight attendant for 10 years and never heard any benefits for seniors.

Right, I called United, Airline, Alaska when I went to my Granddaughter in Idaho and asked when I called to get my ticket information. ALL of them said “ We don’t offer any Senior Discounts anymore” so this guy OR the person doing the AI on this site needs to update this information because it’s not correct and I called each THREE TIMES talked to different people to make sure… I got the same answer👎👎👎

A few days ago flying home from Washington DC I asked if I could go through the TSA pre-check line since I’m old. The nice young lady said NO but very politely. I don’t know what alternate airline universe this vlogger is from.

As a forty year airline veteran, this information is not factual in any way.

I’ve been working for a major US airline in many airport and management positions in my 40+ years in the company. We offer no bag, booking, club or seat exceptions for seniors. If we did, I’d take advantage of them. 🙄

It's good to know all this stuff! In America, you really gotta be your own advocate, especially when dealing with big corporations like airlines. They're not just gonna volunteer these perks; you gotta be proactive and ask for them directly. I mean, it's your money and your time, right? No point in leaving benefits on the table if you're eligible.

I called a few different airlines and was told they no longer offer senior discounts.

I was asked going through security if I was 75. I told him no, I'm 73 and he said when I reach 75 I no longer have to remove my shoes. That's the only perk I've ever heard of.

Traveling over 75 or 80 isn't easy. I was told by the flight attendant that a wheel chair would be available at my distillation at Regan Nation. The flight attendant met well, but she wasn't surprised that no one was there to help me. So I disembarked as normal. So you get what the airport can supply, and at bigger airports that isn't always what you expected. I also realize that there are people who take advantage to the system and so it gets overloaded.

So the motto is: It never hurts to ask (nicely, of course).

This is untrue, you shouldn’t get consumers hopes up. I worked in the airline industry for over 30 years. We had 10pct senior discounts in the 80’s…but none of these deals are offered anymore. All of the perks you are offering are rarely given and would be for instances if the airline cancels or was overbooked. Under certain circumstances you might be compensation in a discount for future travel. I am disappointed in the false information on this video.

In India seniors get discounts for local flights, priority boarding along with passengers with kids and occasionally free seats if availability permits. All you have to do is carry your ID cards

The only perks I've seen are priority boarding for families with toddlers, and military personnel can board the plane earlier.

I asked only for seat closer to bathroom for my 85 years old mother. Lady from crew told me she can change seat if is any empty avaliable. They not want to help anything.

Many banks and companies make airport courtesies for their clients like priority passes and lounge accesses. At the Istanbul airport I wanted to use my priority VIP access but the attendant asked me and my wife to pass directly as we were over 65 years. Passengers who don't want to queue up and use the VIP pass are asked to pay 22 Euros.

If you actually have to wait until the day you travel and the airline DOES NOT allow extra free baggage, sounds like your screwed!

If you are senior, they will not let you sit at the emergency seat row.
