I'm definitely into postmodern style. I think it's just sort of the time period I was born into, so I love it. For me, I like to see it blended with late MCM in more warm, natural colors. But I can't resist the pops of flashy (borderline tacky) postmodernism that give it more life. It can be done really well if done thoughtfully. Be unique!

I'm an 80's girl. Back in the day our home was all about postmodern decor. I didn't love it or hate it as a kid. Fast forward to current day after decades of mid century design trends, I grew bored of it. Now, that the postmodern design trend is arrived back into our home decor worlds, I am seeing the beauty of it in a whole new light. I started to swoop out my mid century pieces for postmodern pastels combined with neutrals. I AM LOVING IT! It takes me back to simplier, more relaxed and fun time in our lives. The pieces in my home just make me smile from the inside out. I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels this way about the postmodern home trends. I predict the trend will be with us for a long time to come <3

I like how this updated take on post modern can easily be combined with different styles. It's just as bold but approachable.

What I love about 70s & 80s interior was the confident colour choices and experimental designs. It was so much more personal & expressive. I feel like as time has gone on people have grown more and more scared of colours. Im always here for the direction postmodern is heading, but the bold paint & surface colours are my favourite part.

I realize this video is a couple of years old, but postmodern pieces are now starting to hit HomeGoods in 2024. I was at the local one last weekend and scored a beautiful wooden nightstand with a curved waterfall shape. I also saw quite a few upholstered waterfall benches. I really love the look, and while my living room is mid-century modern, I've been sprucing up my bedroom little by little so that it looks '80s. A little bit Golden Girls, a little big Memphis/New Wave. Even mixing pastels with brighter pops of color. I love it!

I was a teen in the 1970s, and I loved the colors of post modern used during that time. This design trend can work if you don't go over board and make it more minimalist as opposed to maximalist. (my opinion only)

I adore postmodernism and maximalism so joyful and selfadfirming ❤

Great video! Today’s version of Postmodern is much softer and sophisticated so I think that’s great. It also has been coming for a while, not a new concept but definitely new to the general public. I do like mid-century modern but it’s been soooo done that I am more than ready to see something different in posts and media so thank you for this video! I think Kelly Wearstler plays amazingly with the style.

I really do like this current take on postmodern. Soft and colorful

0:19 (the light brown chairs and curvy white sofa, not the place with all the marble and the round blue cushions) is yummy, so, maybe i could do post modern.... but i'm def realizing (partly thanks to you!) that i skew more mid century modern. love that you emphasize that you can incorporate elements of any style into your "personal" style, however, so nothing needs to take over completely. thank you - so so so so much - for helping me to start visualizing what it is i really want in a home. it's a huge service you're providing! 💚

Love fluting trend & rounded soft furniture. That mix of neutrals with little pop of color adds some excitement to white walls.

"Less screamy" is a perfect description. I love that I learned something new. Your videos are always so informative and entertaining.
Fyi, your cute glasses are reflecting a light (from your monitor?)
Other than this slight distraction, this content is A+.

I knew wouldn't choose this style for myself, but I watched just because you are such a good teacher. Thanks for including the names of the designers and how their designs were inspired (Cesca).

Thank you for explaining the trend that is going on right now. People are looking for fun items and the 70s and 80s(?) delivered. The difference being that items are now available in neutrals: not everything needs to be orange, yellow, purple ànd brown.

Yeah post modern is my vibe, I have some nods to it in my house to keep the midcentury modern from being too overwhelming.

My style uses mostly hypertraditional pieces in unconventional layouts, but the way I use color and proportion somehow manages to be very similar to this, in aesthetic — which is kind of blowing my mind, since that doesn't make any sense, at a surface level. I think the reason for the resonance might be the organic wall shapes of cob homes, which I absolutely fell in love with, in my peak Art Nouveau phase, but which also seemed always too white for me, as I cannot abide a room without substantial amounts of color, however muted. This is quite the revelation. I may need to reëvaluate the hodgepodge balance that is my personal aesthetic. This is really beautiful.
