Why Jonathan Taylor Thomas Ditched Home Improvement

Jonathan Taylor Thomas skipped out of the final season of "Home Improvement", including foregoing the reunion. What was his reason?

Whatever his reasons were, he worked it out in the end with Tim Allen as he would play a reoccurring character and direct some episodes of "Last Man Standing".

Honestly, good for him. It's disappointing he didn't show up for the finale, but I'm happy he left when he did. Hollywood can screw someone up

I was so sad when they wrote him off the show and he never came back. He was one of the reasons I watched the show.

He was a kid who wanted to do what he wanted to do. he owed them ( entitled add hats) NOTHING.

I mean even Zachary said that he spent most of his childhood on the set of HI, so my guess is that Thomas also did too, and perhaps (as they said) he just got tired of it. Granted, part of me said that he should have maybe stuck it out for another 2 years (although maybe at that point, he didn't know the show would end in 1999).

He could’ve toured colleges at any point in his life, but to attend the finale of a show that he grew up on? You could’ve only done that once.

The only thing I found weird in all this is that he was doing other films, lol. I would understand more if he had completely quit acting, but it was more like he had unspoken beef with the show, which wasn’t cool. He could’ve at least been more up front, or at least just do the finale and be done with it. Otherwise, good for him, and I hope he’s happier with his other pursuits in life.

He should have finished what he started, which would have shown maturity and respect for his co-stars, which apparently, he had neither. Sad. I liked him on the show.
