Edmunds editors pit the 2018 Ford Mustang GT (5.0-liter V8) and 2018 Chevrolet Camaro SS (6.2-liter V8) against each other in a comparison test of the longtime pony car rivals.

Senior writers Carlos Lago and Mark Takahashi first hit the track for their driving impressions of the two and compare interiors. Watch the video to see which muscle car handles the best on the track and in everyday life. But more important, find out which does fun better.

Q: What are the 0-60 numbers for the 2018 Camaro and Mustang?
A: In this comparison test, the 2018 Ford Mustang GT sped to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro SS reached 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.

Q: How much is the 2018 Ford Mustang GT?
A: The Mustang GT starts around $36,000 and adds some exterior body enhancements and a limited-slip differential. Our GT Premium test vehicle was well-appointed with options such as the 10-speed automatic transmission ($1,695) and an active performance exhaust ($895) pushing its as-tested price to almost $49,000.

Q: How much is the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro SS?
A: The Camaro SS starts at $37,000. It basically gets the 1LT's equipment plus a 6.2-liter V8 (455 hp, 455 lb-ft), a six-speed manual transmission with rev-match downshift (an eight-speed automatic is optional), 20-inch wheels, the four-piston Brembo brakes, the FE3 sport-tuned suspension, a mechanical limited-slip differential, a Track driving mode, a rear spoiler, xenon headlights and upgraded gauges.

I’m 6’4 and I work around these cars all day. I’ve driven the Camero 2SS and the visibility was never a question to me. Not once do I get in a camaro and think about not having visibility. People have to stop just regurgitation complaints that car reviewers spew out.

Wait a minute, an automotive review that's honest and criticizes in a constructive way? I can't believe what I am hearing and seeing. In this day and age where companies "secretly" pay for marketing materials. Great job Edmunds! Thanks for giving the viewer something informative.

6:40 "The difference is the badging on the hood, and that's basically it..." Well said. No matter what you chose, these beauties are a way better deal than the German & Japanese V8s that are priced up to 3X as much.

They used two different Camaros for this video and thought no one would notice...

Just picked up the camaro and it makes me happy and I can sleep well at night that Carlos approved my purchase over the Mustang.

I'm a driving enthusiast and I love a good handling car. Within the past 3 years I've owned a C7 Corvette Z51 and a Fiesta ST, both outstanding handling cars that won me a few autocross 1st place medals. I am certain I would love the Camaro SS 1LE on a twisty road, track or autocross course, but there are a few things that make me sway more towards the Mustang as a street car. These are my individual pros and cons for each car.

Pros of the Camaro: Alpha platform handling, LT1 (would love to see port injection along with DI in the future), proven TR6060 transmission, revolutionary eDiff, smartly tuned dynamic ride control, NLS, good rev-matching system, great deals to be had on 1LE packages since they've been out for a while.

Cons: small side/rear windows, electronic e-brake, big doors which makes it hard to get in/out in regular parking spots (reminds of the Corvette), ugly two bumps on the dashboard above the gauges, the infotainment screen seems like a design afterthought, very limited storage in center console/door pockets.

Pros of the '18 Mustang: A handle for the e-brake! The intoxicating sounding, under-rated updated engine with dual fuel injection, better interior design with better materials and storage, easier to get in/out, more usable trunk, looks good in PP1 trim, MagneRide, modes for the steering, exhaust, etc.

Cons: Slightly heavier, unknown reliability with the upgraded engine.

Actually, I don't think there's any deal breakers for me with the Mustang. Other than not being as good handling as the 1LE, I think it's a hell of a car with substantial aftermarket support to make it whatever you wish. I would love the 1LE for 5% of my driving, but the remaining 95% which is more street oriented, I think the Mustang is a better car.

I love all three big American muscle cars. The challenger was my faviourte but these new mustangs have really changed my mind. But I can't forget the camaro and it's incredible performance. Ugh it's so hard to choose which one

As an owner of a 2017 727 Mustang I’m obviously biased. That aside. Love the duo. Great review gentlemen. Subscribed for more similar content.

Am I the only one who noticed that they mixed in a few shots of a ZL1 Camaro in this video? 5:38, 6:22, 6:43, 7:01

Mustang for me but it really needs a diet and the 6sp manual. 3600lbs is the most weight for a pony car imho. The Camaro is the better modern day version of the old “pony car” concept, but the mustang is the better GT/Daily driver.

The Camaro vent blows on your hand when it's on the gear lever. The Mustang vent blows on your had when it's on the steering wheel. Where is your hand going to be most often? It should be on the wheel.

Great review! It's not often you see unbiased reviews where the reviewer lets the car talk for itself. I hate reviews where you can see 2 seconds into the video which car the person will choose before he even drives it. Much appreciated!
