This was actually a great look into more of Tim's character and story.

Everyone has flaws and things they need to work through. This was the last time he did this and he clarified to her later he was married but wouldn't mind getting a drink as friends.

If Tim were perfect he wouldn't be believable as a character. Showing flaws and growth is part of what I love about the Rookie.

We see it with Lucy too. She learns over time to speak up more and to even challenge him when she doesn't agree with his decisions.

That episode kind of bugged me as well, it was poorly written and compromised a beloved character (Tim) by having him do something so out-of-character. It was also mean to the dispatch gal and not something Tim would do. They could have spun it another way without compromising his integrity. Glad they don't do that stuff anymore. I also was glad Lucy saw right through it from the start. That whole story of the competition didn't string together that well.

Not a good side of Tim. And wished that when he tried to keep her silence with the drunk tank clean up. She would have said, "Fine. I prefer that to someone using a woman they have no interest in to win some competition.".
