The University of San Francisco’s School of Education (SOE) and Center for Humanizing Research (C-HER) celebration of Paulo Freire’s Centennial and Evolving Legacy, November 9th and 10th, 2021.
Tuesday, November 9th | Dean Shabnam Koirala-Azad, USF School of Education, moderates a discussion with Catherine Murphy, filmmaker and the founder and director of The Literacy Project; Dr. Alma Flor Ada, Professor Emerita at the University of San Francisco and a leading figure in Latino children’s literature; and Dr. Patrick Camangian, Professor of Teacher Education at the SOE, University of San Francisco, on Paulo Freire’s work and impact in the field of humanizing education.
Janise Powell, doctoral student in International and Multicultural Education at the University of San Francisco with a concentration in Racial Justice and Education, reads an opening land and BLM acknowledgement and original poem.
Thanks to the USF School of Education faculty, staff, students, alumni and community for joining us for this special gathering! And special thanks to Dr. Monisha Bajaj, Professor of International & Multicultural Education (IME) and Dr. Emma Fuentes, IME Professor and Department Chair (organizing and event coordination) and Jazzmin Gota, doctoral student in IME with a concentration in human rights education (organizing/technical support/video editing).
