Dr. Beorn is an historian of the Holocaust, Nazi Germany, and genocide and associate professor at Norhtumbria University in the UK. He is the author of Marching Into Darkness: The Wehrmacht and the Holocaust in Belarus, The Holocaust in Eastern Europe: At the Epicenter of the Final Solution, and Between the Wires: The Janowska Camp and the Holocaust in Lviv which was a Finalist for the National Jewish Book Award. He is also an avid practitioner of digital humanities.
As former executive director of the Virginia Holocaust Museum, Dr. Beorn is a passionate public-facing scholar who believes history should be made accessible to everyone. He has written for The Washington Post and appeared in several documentary films. He is also the host of The Holocaust History Podcast. Dr. Beorn is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, a former cavalry officer in the US Army, and a combat veteran.
