In 1943, a B17 bomber was badly damaged over Germany, but an enemy fighter pilot chose to spare it. The German pilot escorted the bomber safely out of German airspace, even saluting the American crew before leaving. 50 years later, the pilots met and became friends. This act started a debate: was the German pilot right to spare the bomber, or did he betray his country?
