Dozens of people were killed in Greece on Tuesday (February 28) in a head-on collision of a freight train with a passenger train carrying over 350 people on board, the country's worst-ever rail disaster. FRANCE 24's Nathalie Savaricas tells us more.

clearly the station master lacked safety training

There will be a huge development in courts involving the railway. company government officials . The human error yes indeed caused it but it was bound to happen at any time as the electronic systems that would avoid this tragedy were never placed to work. The systems have been delivered since a decade and more but never installed or partially installed and others were incompatible to each other. You can't rely solely on 1 man especially a man that had only 36 days of experience in this role and also assigned to carry out his duty alone when it is mandatory to have 2 persons watch.

Blame the EU bureaucracy for not enforcing certain safety requirements for transport in member countries. All airports, sea ports, rail and road should meet a set minimum standard to ensure the public of member countries safe travel.
