I Was Wrong About the Carpet Drill Brush...

In today's video, Anthony confesses his new found love for the Drill Brush Attachment. He often looked at this tool as a fast way to ruin carpet, upholstery, and seats. So what has changed? Let's dive in to this popular detailing tool and talk about it!

The Detailing Drill Brush is more popular than ever and MANY Youtube Videos feature this tool for interior detailing and stain removal. Nowadays, there isn't a "disaster interior detail" that doesn't feature one of these. The consistent rotation of bristles makes for quick cleaning and deeper stain removal. But what impact can that have on the carpets pile and fibers? More often than not, a STIFF detailing brush can de-nap the pile of a carpet or upholstery and cause it to have a "frayed" look. Once a fabric has seen this kind of scrubbing, it usually doesn't go back to normal.

Anthony has tested MANY interior detailing brushes. Some are heroes and some are zeroes. in His past experience with Drill brush attachments, the fabric never looked the same again. Fast forward to today and his thoughts have changed. It all comes down to the style of bristle on the Drill attachment that makes the biggest difference. The softer the bristle, the less chance of irreparable damage. Using a SAFE drill brush is actually an amazing tool for deep cleaning engrained dirt, stain removal, and getting a consistent clean look.

So when is the drill brush necessary? We would say that anytime there's mud, deep stains, or years of filth embedded into fabrics. For light maintenance cleaning, a drill brush may be a little overkill. Vacuum often, clean up spills when they happen, and get a set of rubber mats for the winter months!

We hope you found this confessional helpful! May the power of the drill brush be with you (when you need it).

With all those hand “polishing” jobs he will be doing, Im glad to see him giving himself a little break from the arduous repetitive labor.

It takes a big man to confess when he's wrong !

I'd say it entirely depends on the quality and harshness of the drill brush.
It can definately screw up your carpet/fabric, but to my experience, thats only when its harsh.

I do use them, they are a great time/arm saver, but you do have to be careful around plastic trim, the non bristle part of the brush will scratch soft surfaces.

I used the softest white drill brush on my wife’s 2015 Honda Covid seat. I wasn’t using it aggressively at all and some of the stitching got damaged on the seat. I’ve been scared to use it ever since. I don’t know what happened or if it was just the type of fabric/stitching.

Just be careful on the edges as you can burn the carpet with the friction from the fast moving plastic top or your drill. For the tight corners or hard to reach spots pull out your trusty ibrid nano that has the brush that comes in the kit to knock those spots out. Also when i finish extracting the carpet i blow it out with compressed air into a rag to get any of those tight spots or as much moisture you can incase your extractor did not get it

I would really like to see theragcompany create their own drill brush attachment different to whats available online something that even drill brush haters can agree works absolutely amazingly well, or a duel action hook and loop carpet brush I've liked the idea of using a da for carpets but the products available for duel action carpet brushes is severely limited

Nothing on the planet is perfect
.. that's life.
Drill brush can slings a lot product everywhere, and on some carpets.like "impossible carpet" witch now is present not only on cheap cars but also on more expensive, or on some fabrics, the stiff yellow or red brushes if course can cause problems, ... but...thats life....

If you have to scrub the 'dirty carpet' with that much effort before you 'do a deep dive' on it, maybe find a better carpet beforehand 😉
