I Was Wrong About The Wild Robot...

Finally DreamWorks' The Wild Robot has reached the UK and with it my early reservations from first impressions of the trailers can be put to rest. Whilst I assumed it would be good, and artsy and have all the praises in the world yeah yeah yeah. There was one gripe I had that I thought could have made the movie better had it been included. But having now seen how the actual movie turned out.. I can fairly say that I Was Wrong About The Wild Robot...

I don’t exactly get why people wanted the movie to be silent, like the animals literally talk in the book too.

DreamWorks can be very frustrating cause they're inconsistent in their movie quality. But when they cook they GIVE A FIVE COURSE FIRST CLASS MEA!!!

I don't understand why people wanted this movie to be silent. It is very, very hard to do something like that well. This is one of my all-time favorite animated movies. Dreamworks knocked it out of the park once again. This, Transformers One, and Inside Out 2 are easily the best movies of the past two years.

A reason for being a sequel movie is that the wild robot movie is based off of the first book and there are 3 books. And yes, the second does go more into the human society.

The fact someone even has to say they were "wrong" about this movie is wild, because all it took was the first trailer to make me cry

One thing i really like and somehow not hear a lot of people talk about is how Dreamworks gave Roz so much emotion with the only moving parts of the face are the Eyelids.

My mom didn't Like Roz's choice to go to the humans in the ending...
But I think that was kindof the best choice she could have possibly made.

Not just to protect the animals, tho that is clearly an important aspect of it. But she's clearly rapidly deteriorating by the end of the film and probably would have completely broken down within a few months at the longest if she stayed. And really, the movie wouldn't have been nearly as good if they omitted any of the points where she takes serious damage.

Sure there'd be merit in her making the decision to stay instead, assuming the humans never showed up to take her again. Choosing to spend a guaranteed last few months of her life with her son instead of risking the chance of not being able to return within the rest of his lifespan if at all.

But the decision she did make in the movie also has a greater good aspect to it. Sure she might not be able to return before Brightbill dies of old age. And that's of course deeply sad if that happened. But Brightbill isn't the only reason she needs to continue operating. She knows thanks to the snow storm that many, many animals on the island would have died without her. Having the chance to return to the island fully operational means she can protect many more lives than she would be able to otherwise. Maybe even convince the humans to send out more units to protect wildlife after seeing her memories.

People are severely downplaying all the ramifications of this decision and what it means for Roz and all the animals.

I think the fact that the robots pull guns on the geese is meant to represent how they are programmed to shoot anything that isn’t there master a.k.a. human, but never encountering human animals her master/friends

The perfect masterpiece to send off in-house productions at DreamWorks. The cast and characters are perfect, it's not afraid to show nature being as cruel as it is beautiful, and the emotional beats hit so hard. I love Fink's character development and the scene where Brightbill leaves on migration and Roz catches his feather makes me tear up every time.

Took my daughter to see this and bawled my eyes out twice. Absolutely devastatingly beautiful. I am afraid of the fact that a sequel has already been greenlit, since this on its own did such a good job of adapting most of the first two (of three) books, but this film absolutely blew me away. If you are considering giving it a watch, don't hesitate.

I hate it when people say this movie should be silent read the book before you judge the movie fully. In the book one of the themes is communication is key so the movie should have them talk.

As someone who read the wild robot pretty much when it first was written, I was surprisingly pleased with how it turned out.

This is not only an amazing swan song for Dreamworks in house animation projects, this is a phenomenal film to celebrate dreamworks animation 30th anniversary. A beautiful story, awe inspiring animation, and very relatable and memorable characters. What Wall-E is to pixar is what the wild robot is for Dreamworks animation. 9.6/10

Yeah no sorry.... the voice acting was top notch. Lupita made me adore Roz. And when she said she loved brightbill my heart exploded. The part when she jumps out of the ship too with the flames behind her and kris bower's score... omg chills. It was on parr if not better than the Ride of the Rohirrim scene.

I too was hesitant with the talking animals, but after watching the movie and it’s become one of my favorite movies of all time, I found and read the book and, talking animals IS IN THE BOOK, and done in the same relative way. Speaking of which, the movie actually does a better job of adapting to the books then I expected

The thing about DreamWorks is that if they make a bad movie, it’s the worst freaking thing in existence, but if it’s a good movie, it’s a damn masterpiece, which defines the Wild Robot.
