16-Year-Old 250 Two Stroke vs Modern 4 Strokes!

Can a 16-Year-Old Suzuki RM250 possibly be faster than a modern four stroke dirt bike? Let's find out!
Back in 2006 the world of Motocross was going through a monumental change as the pro paddocks were making the transition away from 2 Stroke motorcycles. But we think the riders of the time might've been a little premature with their jump onto the 4 Stroke bandwagon. The two strokes of the time were still demons on the track, and we are on a mission to prove it as we pitch this 2006 Suzuki RM 250 vs. a pair of modern race bikes...which bike will be fastest?

A big thanks goes to Rob and Joe Croft for making this video possible and to Ed Bradley for sending it hard as always!

Two stroke is still my favorite in the mountains. Four strokes are great as well, but the two stroke is and always will be my choice in off road bikes.

Imagine where the 2 strokes would be had they kept being developed. We used to take the '90 cr500 on the ice, couldn't keep the front wheel down. It was bored out as well, thing was mental.

It will be good to know how much the 14 years of evolution of the 450's chassis, weight, suspension and breaks influenced in the 450's advantage over the 2 stroke 250. Cheers

Driving a 2 stroke takes balls..driving a 4 stroke you just sit on them.

I was raised on 2 strokes and they will always be my favorite.

The only reason two strokes ever died is due to the idiotic rule that allowed double the displacement based on ancient four stroke design. Totally fueled by the industry because they knew how they could eek out even more money with a four stroke.

I grew up on all 2-strokes! Elsinore 125-250(1979&1980) 1974 husky 250(fast ass bike!) Late 70s-80s yzs, crs. And in 1988, i got to ride my buddies new 1988 cr 500(DAM!) That bike wore us out!

I had a 2007 Crf 250 twin pipe, and a 1999 rm 125. Only sold my rm last year even though I hadn’t ridden it properly for years. Still makes me sad 😂.
Up the 2 strokes, no smoke no poke!
Sound and smell enough for me without even riding it!

I have an old 1986 yamaha yz490 at home in the shop begging to be drug out and fixed from where my buddy wrecked on it years ago. I am not an adrenaline junkie by any stretch of imagination so I literally have no business with a bike like that. Most adventurous thing i do is slow paced trail rides. But that is by far hands down the wildest thing i have ever operated.

Gotta love a smoker and the last rm's were the best of the bunch.

Even if it was a lot slower, the sound alone makes the RM the winner, you can't be the 2 stroke soundtrack

Neither of those guys rode that RM the way they should have. Two strokes are meant to be wrung out even around the sharpest turns
