I finished it the other day! And I agree it shows the flaws and rawness and humanity of people. So realistic. But yes, the relationships and how they connect and get along with each other or don't was interesting. It touched on a lot of the themes well and I think that was my favourite thing of the book. Especially as it showed the generational impact on perspectives when it comes to movements and themes.

wooh just finished this book the other day! "painfully human" is such a good descriptor of it. I loved how Evaristo made all the different characters have a unique voice in their section while still staying true to her prose style. so so talented. Have you read Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi? I saw Pet in your background which they also wrote and I think you'd really like Freshwater!

Thank you for your video!
I tried to read the book for several weeks now but I just didn't seem to understand what it wanted to teach me. Now that I have seen your video, I have new motivation to read it. Thank you very much for that!

1, I love your shirt. 2. This is a fantastic review. I love it when authors find a balance between handling the serious topics and scenes and including humor in their work. I feel like when handling the topics listed in the trigger warning(thank you for listing them by the way) its important to cut it with humor because at least for me it does get hard to read.

Very curious to see how this book portrays “painfully human.” And the different povs on feminism sounds like such a good discussion I really want to read. Also, I love your hair!!
