Mamas and partners, I understand why you might think a doula is needed if you have a supportive partner but here's the thing, doulas play a very different role from what your husband or partner plays. As the father of the baby, you're also in labor. You're also going through the motions with the pregnant mama and you most likely do not have as much birth experience as a doula. What this means is that it might be difficult for you to be objective because you're so deeply emotionally invested in the process.

Doulas on the other hand are able to take a step back and analyze the situation objectively and they have more experience. As a doula, my client is the entire family, not just the pregnant mama and I am able to play different roles. Need me to hold your hand? sure! Need a massage? sure! Need me to fetch you water and take pictures while your partner remains by your side? absolutely!

As doulas, we don't replace your husband, your doctor, or your midwife. We are all a part of one BIG team!

Agreed, my hubby gives me the sweetest kisses & and support, but he doesn't have all the years of practice & knowledge our Doula does. When I see my doctor, I always text both my husband & Doula to explain: protein in urine, NST activity & blood pressure numbers. Guess which one knows what I'm saying & guess which one has to Google what language I'm speaking 😂. Again love my hubby but he just doesn't know everything she does. She has taught us both so much & actually that has brought us closer.

Aah just discovered ur channel and as a (we’ll still very young woman) I can say, I would prefer a home birth when the time comes that I’m ready to have kids. This kind of education is important!! Keep doing what you do :) the audience will come
