One of the magic things about this lesson is its instructor. Adrian has that gift of conveying clearly, concisely and accurately in a manner which is pure joy to participate in, and to a large degree because of an intrinsic likability he carries about him. No intimidation here. He could make a student confident enough in himself to believe a Hendrix solo really is easy peasy. Honesty, humour and humility without superficiality or false modesty IDK? All a bit je ne sais quoi really, but 'it's' there in spades. Really enjoy Adrian's website and other lessons. Adrian really is an illustrative example demonstrating how to communicate effectively and entertainingly. Among the best. Two thumbs up.

I've been mashing away on the chords for years and I'm finally attempting the solo with the help of this video.

At the start of the video you're correct about the E-string barre chords, they are loudest in the mix and played the lead guitar player (I've also noticed he favours an aggressive downstroke attack like Johnny Ramone), but the rhythm guitarist also supplements this with A-string root chords, and he plays with an up/down strumming motion .The Undertones thrived on a duel attack. Anyway, love this video!

Wonderful. Been struggling with this for a while but nailed it watching this. Adrian is a really excellent instructor. Probably helps that my hand is getting strong enough to barre chords a bit now. I watch a lot of instructional vids and always come back to Adrian's if he has covered the track...so I guess I find he suits my learning style more than the others.

Hadn't played this for a while... needed a refresher and, with no disrespect intended to other excellent teachers, but THIS is the lesson to use. Needed an Englishman (yes I'm biased and yes I know they were Irish) who perhaps knew some proper punk to get this over. The solo for example... lots of lessons/tabs show extra linking notes which simply aren't there on the original recording. Great playing, great tone and as always superb instruction. The Undertones are still going, less Fergal of course, and selling out venues.
