The 2005-2012 Porsche 911 (997) market has been a crazy one in recent years as has the entire used car market. But there may be signs that the skyrocketing prices are starting to slow and the 997 may become a bit more affordable or at least have prices level off. In this video I take a look at the current market and indicators on where if may be heading in the near future for those wanting to buy or sell a Porsche 997.

Here in Europe prices went up over the past 2 years +10k / +20K€ with a medium price of 50k€. Market bound for a hard correction. Ppl out there asking 70k€ for a 150k km 997.1 S are just delusional IMO

997.1 should be a 35k-45k used car. Prices will come back down to that level as the current recession worsens.

The 997 has hit collectible status. I would buy the best one you can, and not worry. Even if there is a recession, look at what happened to the 1973 RS during the great recession of 2008. It went up.

I’m 2 months late to this video but we are definitely seeing 997 price drops and or sitting on the market much longer than they have been in the last few years.

Sounds like you’re hoping to buy one cheap

997.2 GT3 (and RS) was absolute peak GT3 - last true analog 911.
Since then, the GT3 has become bigger, way more technically advanced and the engine has been edging forward in the chassis - the antithesis of the old classic 911 formula.
Don’t get me wrong, any GT3 would be a stunning car to own, but the formula shifted after this car.

No way. Those who can afford them won't be effected

997.2 prices are very solid. Only 60k units world-wide will ensure they remain desirable.

Who knows, but I doubt they will drop.

If the 997 is going down, what will the market do the "Ugly Duck" 996?

As soon as it's clear that prices are dropping, speculators disappear and we see who the real enthusiasts are, and what the real prices are. Same story only different.

First, we are NOT in a recession and are not headed for one. This downturn in the markets is merely sentiment driven and has little basis in reality. Second, I predict that ALL 911's will hold their value. There are fewer and fewer of them every day and their is demand. Any decreases in values will be very temporary, if at all.

In 2023 the 997 is officially categorized as a Porsche classic by Porsche.

So basically the Turbo/S was the best investments in the 997 range.

The fed will raise interest rates one more time before 2023. This will drop prices hopefully.

Click bait. It's not even close to a "collapse". Get a second generation 997 and you'll be more than solid.

I’m more curious about the fact that even the cheapest electric cars soon will have much better performance than these old fossil fuel driven ones. Will that make the value of 997 plummet? I mean soon you will not even be allowed to drive fossil cars.

911 GT series market is collapsing and will totally because they can't make anymore and by the time they are ready to make more, they won't be marketable because the e street sports car revolution would have passed them up by leaps and bounds. They may be track worthy but when they are regularly smoked by e sports cars on the street, the drivers of the GTs' (99% of whom never see a track) can't even catch up to the e car drivers to cry to them their lame excuse that theirs' are better (and that will be soon questionable) track cars. All these GT's will be left in the dust by the E cars on the street, reducing them to archaic VW bugs. Plus who wants GT 2021 technology if and when it is made available in 2024? The Carrera (unless there is a viable E version) will be another dead 'bug'.
