We are in a depression not a recession. But man in the media will smile and say all is well !

Not just newcomers, it’s citizens who have been here their entire lives. Why do we even care if newcomers can’t find jobs, tell them to go back.

GDP per capita matters more than total GDP. Total GDP mainly shows government revenue potential, not individual well-being. An economy driven by real estate speculation without job creation risks depression. Immigration offers only a temporary solution to Canada's inefficient economy.

If they find a job, some citizens are losing on a job

GDP per capita isnt a true measure?
Is that what your really trying to sell here?
This statement makes me wonder who this guy married to get his job.

If we are not in a recession in such a bad economic situation, maybe we should stop talking about recession and look at other economic metrics

Employers won't consider them before they arrive to gatekeep jobs for locals and to not waste time hiring a no-show employee. When they do arrive, employers continue to gatekeep for locals but locals will not take those jobs due to the low wages or limited benefits

Perhaps its time for us to speak up and get the media to listen to employees instead of the ultra-wealthy so we can become efficient and well rested like many European labor forces, and not become the next Japan which seems to ignore employee needs.

Let's give workers 5 or so weeks of actual time off as in Europe to prevent chronic burnout so we can keep up their productivity. Lets stimulate domestic tourism through this actual time off and revitalize rural Canada, creating business opportunities and jobs. Lets let our newly refreshed and productive workforce create world class companies like in Germany.

All it requires is we treat employees whether local or newcomer with respect, that labor organizations and companies cooperate to prevent burnout, and we have strong labor laws to prevent abuse by bad employers so employees can have enough time for friends, family, and things they like to do. This sounds easy, so lets fix this productivity crisis.

Just my opinion.

Lets play ball.
Local radio station tells us to "Shop Local."
Ok, time to "Spend Local"
If a business can't "Hire Local", don't shop there.

This guy again.Dejardins must really have some stress or could feel stress on their books at these interest rates. And if we fell into a recession because this guy eats it both ways. Low rates and no recession.
