Congress' ally in Maharashtra, NCP has dissociated itself from Rahul Gandhi's controversial remark on Veer Savarkar. NCP leader Majeed Menon dismissed the remark by calling it personal and said that there shouldn't be any politics on the issue. Rahul Gandhi continued to criticise the freedom fighter saying that, "wrote mercy petitions to the British and accepted pension”. Gandhi alleged on Thursday that Savarkar was aiding the British and asserted that he had proof to back up his claims.

Returning to India to contribute his might was far more important than decaying in the Andaman jail. Savarkar ji therefore would have wrote apology letter to Angrezi bastards to trick them.
