Sharing a VPN connection via Android hotspot comes in handy when you want to use VPN on devices like SmartTV, video streaming devices (such as Chromecast, Roku, etc.), game consoles, etc. that don’t have a native option to install VPN apps. This video shows how to share Android’s VPN connection over Hotspot (VPN Tethering) without root.

Note: Using this method, no root is required on the host mobile, but the devices connecting to your phone's hotspot must support a proxy (either http/https or socks).

weird that this doesnt work on my Galaxy S22 :(. Did everything to the T but nothing will load on the laptop. The ever proxy app also shows 0 bytes of data :(

Man, you absolutely made my day. I’ve been trying to get my Mac into any kind of VPN network here in China, since it’s useless without VPN. Astrill VPN is one of the few who work in China, but they don’t offer software for M1 Mac and iOS 13, so no way. Finally, with your solution I was able to use an old Android phone as router and send traffic through the VPN working on that phone. Super happy. This absolutely saved my day - thank you so much!
