Distaffs, Project Bags, & DIY Spinning Cloths!

In January spinners who stopped spinning during the Twelve Days of Christmas went back to their wheels or spindles; Distaff Day marks that return to spinning. There are also two ways to celebrate the new year. This year I've set intentions rather than made resolutions. One intention is to create/ use the fabric scraps I've been collecting. In this episode I share two ways to use leftover fabric bits, and talk about a SAL I'll be participating in.

Thanks for sharing your project bag and spinning cloth designs. The bias tape maker got my creative juices going. I used to sew quite a bit until about 20 years ago. Maybe it's time to get some sewing projects going again. Fun!

I think some companies are trying out using a new method to get tonnes of views on their adds without having to pay for any of them being shown because nobody ever watches the whole thing, one add was more than half an hour long or more, I don’t think that sort of shifty behaviour should benefit them so I always just muted the volume and set the YouTube playing phone aside for a break to do other stuff that’s not on my phone so that they need to pay for the super long irritating add break and I don’t have to see or hear it playing, a lot of the companies that use that sort of style of add are also scummy scam artists as well so I am not watching the complete playing of the long form adds on principal. I’m spinning some combed bfl during this particular vindictively long add break, but I need to remember to get more copper wire soon to make more homemade Roman bird style ring distaffs because my previous ones are already a few years old and getting progressively more flimsy with each use because they keep bending which degrades the metal, I think my next set will need to be multiple strands of copper wire twisted together to form the shaft so that it’s a much sturdier and less bendy distaff shaft when in use. The spinning cloth looks like a great idea. Happy distaff day!
