Borobudur, Indonesia [Amazing Places 4K]

Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple/stupa in the world. It is located in Java, Indonesia and was built in the 9th century. The monument is UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The monument consists of nine stacked platforms, six square and three circular, topped by a central dome. The temple is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. The central dome is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues, each seated inside a perforated stupa. (Wikipedia)

When I see this place, I really regret the Bamiyan Buddha statue in Afghanistan was destroyed by Taliban. Even though Indonesia is not a Buddhist country but they still well preserve it and becomes one of the best place to visit in Indonesia.

Honestly just blows my mind looking at this. This was built in 800 AD, over a thousand years old, and it is so incredibly well made. I think a testament to human ability, any alien would be impressed.

Borobudur is a masterpiece of manmade, the ancestors of Indonesian is already creating great buildings and large ships who same sized with aircraft carrier 1200 years ago.

Nothing has changed, the conditions are still the same with a dozen years ago. Last to the Borobudur Temple in early 2001 and the weather there was hot. The tropical climate and the influence of the activities of Mt. Merapi, which is on.

Impressive temple! It is the literal representation of the mandala design concept, a cosmological diagram of the universe. It is amazing how this is visually and physically a path to enlightenment starting at the base and culminating in the highest level where the single stupa is placed. I really hope that some day I get the chance to complete this pilgrimage💕

Milosh, to me it is nothing short of miraculous how these structures built so Long ago remain as beautiful and in such a state of preservation. Indonesia a nation shaken so often by earthquakes, wars and internal strive from its beginning to the Dutch occupation, and the Japanese occupation during WW1, to its independence. To me it is a miracle how this nation has survived so many vicissitudes, again thanks for sharing.
