Mr Ballen’s storytelling skills are unmatched. I lose track of time while listening to him

Wow the irony. I’m literally fishing on a shrimp trawler off of the Torngat mountains and looking at them right in front me. Followed you for a while now and to hear a story of a place that’s literally where I am is mindboggling! From Nova Scotia here!

Matt is one incredible person----not just for surviving, but for having the balls to go back to the same place, armed guard or not. And to hold no grudge against the bear. Whatta man! Now that's guts. God bless him.

I can't imagine hearing your own skull, jaw, and neck breaking, and still surviving. I'm happy he recovered and continued to maintain such a positive attitude about wildlife and the great outdoors.

John gets so excited every time he talks about lungy. Those 2 must go way back. Best friends for life.

Matt certainly got the experience of a lifetime from this trip. Glad the guy recovered and even went back there. A real champ. Balls as big as ice-bergs.

Mr Ballen is literally the only creator I actually watch the sponsors for. Gotta love Ol' Lungy

When I was about 25 I was in a situation where I legitimately thought I was about to die and it’s pretty amazing how calm I felt. Once my mind decided there was no escape, the panic stopped and I accepted it. The moment where he’s being dragged off by the bear made me think of that experience.

I really respect the fact you gave away the end just for the sake of the listener not having doubts during the narration and lose immersion. You're awesome thanks for the content

Matt's a local hero here in Lewiston, Maine. This was just so awesome hearing his story through you! Thank you!

Nothing on earth makes me happier than Mr Ballen cracking himself up during an ad read.

While I was stationed in AK in the early 80s, the airborne company in my unit got to do a jump above the arctic circle. As part of their briefing they were told that where they were jumping there are only 2 things. Polar bears and polar bear food.

Man, that's crazy and I'm so glad Matt survived and seems to have made a pretty nice recovery. Thank you for telling his story. ❤️

Really happy to hear that someone as awesome as Matt survived this and I’m also glad the polar bear survived. As Matt stated, this is not something you would hold against it. It was simply living as it’s intended to. As a species struggling to survive, every bear counts.

Odd and frustrating that the experienced campers didn't realize the importance of distance from water, even after the bears themselves warned them.
God Bless Matt, and Rich and the doctor who saved him.

Hey Mr. Ballen, just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate that you stay as accurate as possible to the source material when you tell your stories, even including references and pictures. You’re one of my favourite chroniclers because of it !

There’s something primordial about this story.

How many people and creatures have had experiences just like this in their last moments on this world?

Eerie.

Glad Matt’s doing well!

Me binge watching Mr ballen at 3 am: looks like I'm a fan of the strange dark and mysterious delivered in story format

He was so lucky to survive. It’s astounding the guides didn’t even take their own advice regarding campsites.
