A crowd of angry survivors have hurled mud and insults at Spain's King Felipe during a visit to one of the worst flood-hit towns.

The King and his wife Queen Letizia, along with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, were touring devastated Paiporta, just outside Valencia, as the public rage over the management of the crisis came to a boil on Sunday.

It was to the president that run away and left, the king only took the anger after that, he stayed and spoke with the people. The government did not even provide drinking water, people is very angry.

Both the King and Queen stood by and faced the angry mob, listening to their wailing and insults, embracing, crying with them, dirty with mud, even apologizing for the delay although it was not really its fault. I'm not monarchic myself but in this instance kudos to Felipe and Letizia for staying and trying to comfort their subjects. That's what a king and queen are supposed to do when times are tough. I don't remember, ever, anywhere in the world any royal doing such a thing. Times are changing my Sky friends!

THE PEOPLE WERE INSULTING PEDRO SÁNCHEZ AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE REGION, NOT THE KINGS. THE KINGS, WHO ARE NOT TO BLAME FOR THIS MISMANAGEMENT, HAVE STAYED TALKING TO THE PEOPLE, BUT THE POLITICIANS HAVE FLEED THE PLACE.

It was not to the King but the Prime Minister and the President of Valencian Community.

⚠️WARNING: *THIS HEADLINE IS MISLEADING* ⚠️
Most people aren’t blame against the king but against the prime minister Pedro Sánchez and the president of the Valencian Community who are the main responsibles for all the deaths and for not sending help. The king is a collateral victim because he was at their side, but he’s not guilty, he has no decision-making power.
What has happened is that Pedro Sánchez fled like a rat amid insults, stones, mud and blows with shovels and sticks (people destroyed his car) while the kings had the courage to stay to listen and console the people.

As an ex-British citizen (post Brexit) who swore allegiance to King Felipe of Spain while gaining Spanish citizenship this year, and also a resident of the Valencia region, I would like to make it clear that the anger of the people is mostly directed towards the politicians (mainly Mazón and the Valencia Generalitat PP government) who failed them on the day of the disaster and in the next few days. It was a political failure. The King is not responsible. He came to express support in a state capacity and was insulted for the failures of politicians over whose failures he has no responsibility as a democratic Head of State.

The king is not to blame and should not be in the headline, Pedro Sanchez should

As a republican myself, I must admit that the Spanish King and Queen has earned my respect for facing an angry mob, breaking all safety protocols, and stay there while covered on mud, to listen and support a broken community. I'm pretty sure that the British monarchs, would have turned around and ran into their cars as soon as the 1st drop of mud has hit their face.

They've insulted Pedro Sánchez not the King

Misleading headline. Not a journo here, just a citizen of Valencia. The anger and insults were mainly aimed at Mazón (Regional President) and Sánchez (Prime Minister). Those with executive power. Not at the King.

And the President of Spain and the president of the autonomous region of Valencia escaped, and left the kings alone in front of the crowd.

Stop spreading fake news sky, I was there, the target was, is and will be Pedro Sanchez (who run away as the coward he is) not the king. The king stood and tried to talk with the people.

They were shouting insults to the Prime Minister and to the Presidente of Valencian Community not to the king.

Yes, yet again a 'reporter' omitting the fact that anger was directed mainly at Sanchez (The President ) and all politicians present. While Sanchez cowardly ran to his car, The King valiantly confronted the crowds with empathy and compassion, fulfilling his role gallantly. Don't take us for a ride.

We in America send our prayers to the Spanish people. We know how they feel because our president and vice president didn't show up for almost a week, either, when we had fires in Hawaii, and hurricanes with torrential rains that also triggered horrendous mudslides! There is much death and despair! It's very shameful on the governments part! 🤬🤬🤬

The mayority of the anger, rage, violence, name calling and object throwing was NOT to The King. It was directed to the president of Valencia autonomous region MAZON and the president of the Government SANCHEZ

i live in North Spain. this disaster happened too fast, it actually reminded me the tsunami in Asia back in 2004 during which 220.000 people died, no alert system detected it, so it caught people completely unaware. unfortunately, the only conclusion is to learn the lesson & correct mistakes for potential future disasters right now & start a detailed investigation. people are angry of course & they are seeking responsible authorities to blame. there was a warning several days prior that the storm was approaching, so people knew it yet no One could predict such intensity as to create devastating floods instantly. right now, there are risks of infection through contaminated water, lack of shelter & electricity, food, so there is a long way to go ahead for restoration. blessings to all involved 🙏🏻 i have noticed lots of misinformation, inappropriate reactions, people wanting to be the first ones to publish videos, but the works are in progress, 5.000 soldiers are in place now. many measures are being considered for the affected ones, so everything is in process.
