Is it just me or do they look like someone glued a couple of monopoly houses together

did you just seriously ask me if I wanted a video about a reactor barge?

brother, of course we do

Huh, this looks like something that could fit within the Fallout franchise from the perspective of the Soviet Union or China.

The soviets always come up with the craziest shits I've ever seen

2:55 The Island of Sodorski, where you'll find Tomilin the nuclear steam engine and comrades.

As soon as the world invented nuclear reactors they wanted to put them in everything. My favorite is the nuclear powered cruise missile called "Project Pluto". It was so ridiculously dangerous the US Air Force put a stop to it's development because they didn't want anyone else building one!

Thought this was cool till I realized they’re all conventional diesel tanks hauling around a portable nuclear reactor that gets SET UP once on site. Not exactly groundbreaking stuff. Was thinking all of this was somehow done on a mobile scale and maybe power was distributed via cables while they traversed the arctic.

Probably a good peaceful useful way to use nuclear energy in places where power is needed, especially after a big storm or other emergencies

Interesting concept

The undercarriage was from a conventional tank. The engine was diesel. It was a mobile nuclear modular power plant.

What an amazing machine! Properly explained and very well modeled! And best of all, without bringing up politics and trashtalking russia or the ussr. These were some truly genius people with amazing craftsmanship and it makes me very sad to see that so much of what was created has been lost.

I adore your videos ! I just make an enormous queue every night and fall asleep to them. When I have time during the day watch them with great interest. Just a gem of a channel. Thank you for your work !

At this point whatever the soviets invent could be taken as reliable references.

10:26 I don't see how this would "still be a highly dangerous method to generate power" honestly. Carrying a truck full of oil is many times more risky than carrying a modular heavily shielded micro reactor.

I, for one, would like a video on the reactor barge. Remember hearing about it back in the day.

Also, since small reactors might be making a comeback, do you think that the technology for the trains would make sense now?

Great video 👍🏻👍🏻

Well, of _course_ we want a video on the nuclear barge!

Well, there are nuclear powered ice breakers and subs, so land trains sound feasible.
